sorry but dont get these threads really. ???

I'm in business, the business of cleaning peoples windows for money.
I often call to quote and ask if reg or not (in a friendly manner)
the customer has the choice and so they should, now if its not going to be regular I have an "as and when charge" and bung a few quid on top. Customer can take or leave it, they usually say yes to either, I clean there and then as I've already driven there to quote and I get given money.
All. work, regular or not in my opinion raises my profile and can often lead to other enquiries.
Dont get me wrong FTP I'm not knocking you personally, from your previous posts you sound like your snowed under and have a full round anyhow, but I've a few new regulars of late who have had previous  cleaners with smug and often rude attitudes that I imagine came from similar scenarios.

What I think people often forget is that in a customers eyes we are  total strangers and they are inviting us on to their property, its down to us to make them feel at ease, conduct ourselves in a friendly and professional manner, do a good fair priced job and gain their trust.

or maybe they are just a "pita" in which case tell em to stick it !  ;D

Good post Cyberseye, but the impression I get when a potential custy says "Let's see if you do a good job" is a red flag surely? Every custy, as you point out, is a possible lead to more work elswhere. But it's a bad feeling with FTP's custy.

You can smell 'em coming sometimes :)

maybe but name your price, if they say yes then clean it for the agreed amount, if ya smell a rat agree on cash payment before you start. If they dont want you back, you've lost nothing and made money.
If your too busy and have a full round dont call to the house and quote them in the first place. ;)

Yes, another good point. He was on his way home for scoff, so no time lost. I'm glad this sort of stuff happens to FTP, I love his posts ;D I know what you mean though.

Window cleaners also have the choice as to who they work for, be that regular customers, fat/ugly ones, bad payers, or those that SEEM to be undecided as to what they want.

I reckon he made a good call, custards that seem indecisive play on your mind.

they only play on my mind if theyre deciding whether to pay me or not  ;D if they do ( Ive never not been) then happy days ! all I had to do was clean someones windows for money. If I did'nt like them or felt I was going to get the runaround in future (or locked in for hours while they went shopping  :D) I dont bother going back just the same as they may never call me back. Wheres the issue ? no need for drama

I'm sure that FTP has made a business decision on what he observed...hey we all dump customers for various reasons... I dumped a lady last week for repeatadly using the word 'logically' to me when she said I should have done something that we had never agreed upon.

Cheers
Dave.

Her name wasn't Mrs. Spock of Kirk Street was it Pingu?

Ah well; live long and prosper!  ;D
It's a game of three halves!
