Buy Work Or Canvass
« on: October 28, 2009, 10:48:40 pm »
Im looking to expand my work rapidly so am interested in buying work. Im also looking at canvassing but not sure if its worth my time?

Is canvassing seen as more of a long term thing or can i be used to expand fast?
Also is door knocking better then just ticketing or leafleting

I personally think canvasing work is better because you dont have any outlay, you can price the work, you can pick the type of work and you and the customer know what to expect from the start.

Door knocking is definatly better than leaflets as you get a decision there and then, the potential customer dosnt have time to put the leaflet aside and forget about it. Taking a note of properties where no one is in and calling another time is also a good idea as you can get to everyone who you would not normaly see. leaflets are good if you cant find anyone in or if you get a job you can leave one, the customer then has your full range of services for the future.

Others have bought work though and have done well out of it.

No question for me, knocking doors is the only option I've got. But it can be hit or miss. I had a decent day on Monday, but yesterday and today nothing(but that's an area I can now forget about)

both.
buy a round and build on it. thing with buying a round is its guaranteed income, unless you've not asked questions and not met customers, very rarely will it go wrong.
then canvass round about to build it up to what level of income you want/need

I bought a round a couple of months ago and it's been a godsend. The bloke I bought it from hasn't upped his prices in a few years so their pretty low compared to what I would charge but that aside I would recommend it.The only downer is the initial outlay but there are reasonable rounds to be had if you keep your eyes and ears open.I paid £2k for a good round that generates £1k a month.Plus you've got the added bonus of not having to arse about with first cleans.Gives you a good platform to then start adding customers with door knocking etc.

i know i sound mad but im looking to build a national window cleaning business -
Once i get going i want to use most of the income to buy work all across the country then send the vans from the depot down the motorways to the work and back again -

I guess for the long distance work it will be best to buy rather than travel but im looking to build a local domestic round in the north west fast to start funding the purchase of the other rounds
ive got around £1500 a month at the minute but its paying some of my bills-im getting a loan for my wfp which should let me do around £3000 a month of work because its only a 250l tank

Is it possible to canvass £1000 a months worth of work before xmas?

Been out posting tickets all say - Went round just to knock and didnt get far. Got a few maybes but nothing solid-Five houses away from last house and i get told that the wc who cleans that estate lives in the same street - I remember who it was when they told me where he lived because he came to the window looked at me then vanished and didnt answer the door....

All the time and effort and now its like a kick between the legs - i was optimistic about the area too...

if there was a good round available and i could buy it then without a doubt you would be daft not too if you need the work /want to epand fast or just cant be ass ed knocking

But if you are strapped, or cant find a round or want really good prices etc, keep knocking for yourself

It is abit off putting getting bad estates and quite slow i think....
Is it worth canvassing in the daytime?????
This would give me more time especially now the kids are off ........

What percentage of your round did you canvass yourself ???

i started 2 year ago ive bought all my work doin 4k a month now got into wfp asap best thing i did, ive found buying established rounds they are very compact so it cuts down travelling time and the rounds build themselves always getting asked to do more even cleaned a double decker bus and a caravan this week  ;D

very true

any work ive bought has grown massively since, as you get an immediate presence in the area and as other windys dissapear/do a cack job, you get all there nice custies

i do anyway :)
