Draught mark?
« on: October 25, 2009, 04:38:30 pm »
I did a white polyprop carpet the other day and where the bed had been you could see what looked like a draught mark where the edge of the bed once was it just would not budge i know i read about oiley stains on polyprop being difficult, i tried multi pro no effect could this have been a draught mark, sometimes i get them out completely, other times faded a lot, but this time not at all.

On Polyprop the only chem to use is Ultrapac renovate, i know i have been praising this stuff for years but it is the dogs bo11ocks on these type of carpets, well imo anyway ::)

Gotta agree with Mark.
Had some heavy draught marks last week, albeit cream wool 80/20. Around 3 of the walls in 2 seperate rooms.
Sprayed with Ultrapac, agitated and rinsed straight out. Fabulous stuff.

thanks for that, You say this is good for draught marks do you also use as a pre spray as well if so what do you rinse with, i have been using powerburst pre spray and crystal green to rinse on polprop with good results.

Use quite a lot as a prespray with F&F rinse. Works well for me.

It is true - Ultrapac Renovate is better than the ordinary presprays and even the specially formulated filtration products BUT remember it is a renovation product rather than a carpet cleaner so be careful, especially on wool.

Two things are just as important as the prespray solution:
1. Dwell time - give it as long as possible.
2. Agitation - before and during extraction.

Where the marks are away from the edge my RX20 does a great job due to the agitation.

I would not advise to use on wool except mon draught marks and soot/carbon removal. I use all the time on polyprops it works by breaking down the static charge in the plastic fibre which clings onto the soil.
It is Prochems recommended pre-spray for PP carpets

I seem to recall Pav one of the instructors on the NCCA course saying that he cleaned draught marks with mineral solvent before doing the rest of the carpet in the normal way.Does this sound feasable or did I mis hear him?

Give John Kelly's "Citrus Concentrate" a try & you'll discover there is a world beyond Ultrapac
