agree, maybe terry could say something like: "As you can see these 3 windows are all ground level Holly! I would obviously use different equipment to ensure my safety when working at height"

we would all use a ladder if cleaning Holly's windows  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

disagree 100% no way they replaced trad ;D a long while ago I took work from a wfp contractor because the company could not stand the tons of water every where that was left, just because they wanted there windows cleaned, its not every ones cup of tea.
most wc start out Trad because its simply to costly for wfp :-\ now you have the winter coming,Iam just glad Iam not that Involved so much in the contract side of work dont miss it at all. :)

Your wrong Terry wfp has already replaced traditional methods, you only have to look at retailers of window cleaning equipment and go to any of the trade shows to see the impact wfp has had, especially in the last three years.

All previous methods to clean windows prior to wfp will always be used, so any new method to clean windows will never replace older methods 100%, speak to most wfp window cleaners on CIU and they will tell you they clean the majority of there work with wfp and a lot of that work 85% or more will be done wfp.

NOT having a pop at you (again) Ewan, but, are you saying WFP is now used by the majority of WC's, or just WC's on CIU?

OK Terry, but when the majority of window cleaners who use wfp stop using it or minimise it’s use, and go back to trad for the majority of there work I will agree with you. But this is not happening.

Wfp may not be for a few customers there preferred method to clean windows, but with the H&S getting more involved with window cleaning they wont have a choice. It still won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but customers should not be able to dictate what method to use to clean windows.

As for new window cleaners starting out trad only this has already change there are many windows cleaners now who started out wfp and this will continue to grow. The window cleaners who start out trad only may be doing so for money reasons only given the choice they would I assume want to go wfp.

Another change is insurance, I heard recently a small insurance firm only would insure window cleaners with wfp & trad but not trad alone.

im sure that 80% of all the window cleaning done is trad, will be that way ,for our lifetime !

WFP here, is used, when at all, for com work and high work to save cherrypicker costs etc. I see WFP as an alternative method of WCing. Like some people on here say, it's not a magic wand. If it ever replaces trad completely, it will take years and years before that happens.

Before anyone says, I'm too tight to give the money out for WFP, I'd just like to say that I've invested more than 5 grand in my carpet cleaning equipment, so it's not that I don't want to spend money on my biz.

Health and safety means just that,HEALTH and safety. It's not all about falling off ladders, take a look at the physical problems some guys get with WFP. Shoulder or joint problems etc etc. Where's the "Health" bit in that?

I agree dont use ladders if you dont need to,go the pole way or backflip it,as for Insurance I have cover anyway for Trad only so I dont know where you got those comments from about you get insured on wfp :-\ and not Trad :-\

i use wfp as a matter of safety over cost, however if a job can be done safely on ladders ( ie a competent window cleaner using common sense) then do it....i reckon trad will never be outlawed and never should be....i do shop fronts on the ground level and there is no way i am taking out the kit to clean them wfp as i can rattle round with the applicator and squeegee.....my point is (finally scrimmy) is that ALL methods of window cleaning should be promoted, not just wfp or just trad ;)

may be we should have a competiton to do with wfp i think it should be to do with endurance and shoulder strength as that is what is needed for large industrial work, infact here are a couple of pictures one of me competing in a shoulder strength competition, if we have this i can be a champion like you terry ;D

Its a bit like saying a logging competition with saws is a waste of time and is bad for the industry because we now have chain saws.

Squeegie skills will always be needed, until car manufacturers find a way to get rid of winscreen wipers, i think we are stuck with squeegees for a long time to come.

they are 20kg in each hand and the most reps i have done is 400 that is 200 with each arm without stopping, i dont think i could hold that much weight out in front of me for very long at all but i may try just to see.
