Did a job for an American couple this morning,lounge,diner,study £168/ 600 sq foot ,Now they got my details from an army forum,have an outstanding write up about me and my business,and custy`s keep adding too it ( best advertising i have had )
They had a quote from someone else who was 3 x what i quoted !
Either i need to put my prices up,or they need to put theirs down !
I was happy though,out in under 3 hours,and i was being extremly  through,so i continue getting good comments 
Also quoted on another 2 floors of the house,and 2x 3 seat sofas,going back in Nov for that batch,they want the carpets doing every year !
The last company who did their cleans used a t,m,they were looking to see if my results were of a similar standard,they were impressed,so must be doing ok

Sure someone will say you should have charged mor, but you got what you wanted and more to come from them and sounds like others too.

I think your your pricing sounds alright, slightly higher than mine if I'm been honest but only by a few quid.... If you walk away happy, and they're happy, what more could you ask for?

Excuse my ignorance ,what is a pongo ?
Was never in the forces,was in the 42nd royal engineers cadetts, cprl when i left,and could have joined up straight after school,but didn`t want to fight Thatchers wars for her  

Yeah it`s just the pressure is always high on thease jobs,trying to be 100% carefull and get 100% results,to uphold my status on their forum,it only takes one bad comment,and all my hard work will be undone.But custy happy ,and like you guy`s have said,i was also happy,and got a lot more work out of it.
It`s been the best advertising i have had,saved an american couple having to replace a large lounge carpet,as i got the stains out,they said as a good will gesture,they would give me a smashing write up on inter base newsletter and forum,they were quoted over £700 for new carpet,but called me as a last resort,i said when i started i would only charge them £70,as i honestly didn`t think i would get it out ! P,s,gold is all it took !
They thanked me for my honesty,and said that firms tend to rip them off as they are from another country,and see them as a soft target !
There are loads of bases around here,at least 5 within 20 mile radius,so i get quite a few calls,they are always in nice big expensive houses,with good quality carpets.And they always tip !  

On my 2nd job a fitter was in replacing carpet i could not get the stains out of last week,i asked him for some off cuts,and he litrally gave me enough to carpet my entire house !
Had a good chat with him,swapped buis cards etc,today has been a good day

That seem about right Mark 28p per sq ft, i think the national average is 33p, or so i was lead to believe 12 months ago.

I charge £3.50 per sq  and i got that figure from Pete Sweeney well thats what he told me  he charged dont know if thats gone up now, so i use that as a yardstick sometimes i might drop to £3.00 like today but that was my Brothers house!! funny thing is when i press the equals sign on the calculator i still wince but stick to my guns i was amazed when the first customer said ok fine one last week in a posh house said she did not consider the cost to be honest i find the ones who dont mind paying have clean carpets most of the time, its the grubby ex tennancy ones thats quibble,weird that.

The rozzers have really clamped down on it round here,trouble is all the young kids that were smoking Harmless green,now can`t get it,and have all started doing Ket,and coke !!!

Don`t really buy that much vinyl anymore  All the stuff i would buy is now all Mp3 download only.
Few places online,but i only really buy when i have a gig coming up,and i have thousands of 12`ins to chose from already 

Saving up for a Quaife limited slip diff for the roc now anyway,so i can get some power down out of the corners,without it spinning up the wheel

Just had a call from a guy.
Let house, moving out tomorrow.
Booked a carpet cleaner, but as the removers wont finish till late afternoon thss carpet cleaner cant do it tomorrow night or Thursday - hence can I do it.
I said I can do tomorrow evening.
He goes thro the room sizes - adds up to same as Mark, 600 sq feet PLUS a hall stairs and landing and he says the hall and landing are each about 12' long x 3'.

As I working a price out on the calculator I asked had he got a price from this other carpet cleaner.
Yes - £80.

I just stopped punching away on the calculator and said its going to be at least double that.
End of conversation really.
Too much he said, and went on his way.

Working on Marks figures which is about what I would charge it would have come to £168 plus the hall, stairs and landing - say £45. A total of £200+ ............. and someone was doing it for £80. Amazing

lounge dining room and study, i would charge about £90, be done in under an hour and dry an hour later.
not knocking marks prices though, if thats what he charges then good on him. i'm happy with what i'm getting and thats what its all about.
cue all the numptys telling me i'm not running my business right, please, i like a laugh.
