Specific Task Risk Assessment.....
« on: May 27, 2005, 07:37:52 am »
Morning all.....
Had fun two weeks ago sledging down a house on my ladders.....great fun, nearly broke my legs in the process. Left leg came up in the biggest bruise i have ever seen with a lump to match.....getting better now though!  ::)
Site manager said to me afterwards i should have a look at the method statement for using ladders.....told him i wrote the chuffing method statement in the first place for my staff.
Anyway, the health and safety chap at my office has asked me now to fill in a specific task risk assessment.....i.e i have to write down as many alternative methods of getting to windows to clean off the protective tape and plastic, and to clean the windows too, which doesnt involve ladders! Plus the risks involved etc etc.
Other than erecting a scaffold tower.....which isnt practable for my use, are there any other methods you lot can think of to do the above work? Are there any methods you guys use that you find works for you?
I am thinking of looking at small portable cherry pickers.....but any other ideas i would welcome.
Apparently, a new law came out on the 23 April of this year regarding such things, so if i had fallen off before then, i wouldnt have to do all this extra work  ;D

Thanx people in advance.....

Regards

Tim
