2 of mine had gone, 1 oweing 30 quid ( they were never in, but would allways send a cheque on the 2nd or 3rd clean ) and 1 for 10 quid

thats 90 quid i have lost since the start of the summer with the MOD houses

I would imagine there is a housing officer somewhere who will know how to contact the tenants...chase them...and get the money...do not let this go...

Chase the housing officer and explain and if your are clear enough I am sure they will help you out.

Cheers

Then do as I did matt and go to their housing officer they are usually located on one of the estates failing that contact the base to find out were their housing officer is based (it will be pretty local to you) then inform them about them doing a runner without leaving payment, they contact them and if they fail to pay you then its docked out of there money.

The reason they chase it up for you is so they keep a window cleaner in the area.

Don't let them get away with it Matt it comes as a big shock to them when they know the w/c has taken steps to recover his money.

you all seem more knowledgable about this than me.

If custy always paid and it might be an oversight and not on purpose, then you could send bill through post as there is a chance the old custy has re-direction of mail set-up, might be worth a stamp ::)

They have been reposted and the chances of seeing your money again with MOD personel is very slim if you dont chase it.

As some of you know, half my domestic custies are squaddies. All the answers are right. The Army doesn't want a bad name so these housing officers always chase it up.

I chase all debts from soldiers and always get paid. Depends how well you know the system and which bell to ring, but for that much I would start calling a few phones.

The most effective tool for getting a result from the Army is produce a numbered invoice / bill. Then it's taken seriously.

I assume you have their names?

I stand corrected on the MPGS I Just checked with my daughter who's husband is in the MPGS
but I have to correct you on the docking of the wages. now days even if you don't have your dustbin cleaned at the end of your tenancy it gets cleaned by a contractor and your billed for it, if you already have your bin cleaned and do a runner it will be docked from your pay, I reclaimed £25 from a runner and I was paid my money + one third extra and it was docked from the guy's pay.

I don't know if that happens up and down the country now but it happens here and in portsmouth because my daughter left without paying her windy and it was docked from her old mans pay, when she told me my reply was tough you should pay the windy, it might of been only £6 to you but to a windy its part of his wages and now you have had £8 docked from your wages you now know how the windy feels when people do a runner.

My answer is don't let them get away with it especially end of tennancy cleans its money up front or I don't do it.

i totaly agree with not allowing them not to get away with it.
and yes technically you could have some big scary sergeant major or whatever it is in the navy, force the said soldier, sailor, airmen sign for his pay to be docked and they then pay the bill but they cant just do it without his consent unless they had signed up to some agreement via the housing association. but that would pretty rare,

but maybe this is the case in portsmouth.  all i know is nobody would have forced me to pay any bill i didnt want to pay while i was serving unless it was a military bill.

by the way i never ever bumped the windy when i was in the forces as i was a windy before i joined, but i knew a few familys who bumped the oil guy who would supply oil on tic and he got his money back through pressure from the chain of command but they couldnt dock there wages

i once had a car loan company phone me about a young lad in my platoon who went on to tell me all about his debts etc. i told the guy that he had no right telling a third person about his financial situation and it was against the data protection act. and he should follow the same route at recovering there money as they would any other citizen in this country

just think it this way if you do a council estate and someone moves and you rocked up to the local council and demanded a forwarding address you would be told where to go, why should forces be treated differently. the fact they do is wrong but from our point of view at least they will do something about it

Hang on Stu, you are right  (partly), I don't think they dock pay. The Army will make sure that they pay the bill though. I had a high ranking officer that forgot to settle up before he left. Gave name and address to unit and they got intouch with him, job done.

As for docking pay, don't think so, only when it's about paying maintainance maybe. Get intouch with their unit and they will put you into the right department, job done, honest.

I usually try and get the estate manager as a custy, that shortens the process.
