hey everyone,

yeah it's me again, i bet some people are sic o me posting questions here.

But i will go for it anyways, as i know you all nice people here and always happy to help :)

My question is: what is best place to put an advert in? small local directories that will go to diferent areas covering may be 20000 homes, yellow pages, or local news paper.Any other suggestionswelcome. I mean i know it wouldbe best to put it in al of them, but i just wanted to see from which you guys get a better return. as personally dont like yelow pages, i prefer small directories that go round every month and so on, but my husband thinks yellow pages are better.

Thanks for taking your time to read this :)

Community Mags

We have a company in our area who publish 4, we pay £33 per month for 3 and £44 for 1 and each book hits 3,000 - 7,000 homes and business.

We get alot from this for domestic, and our partner who is an oven cleaner gets 70% from it.

I think the thing to do if you're not sure what is going to work best for you is to try different things, but just in a small way so that you can gauge the response. What works in one place may not work as well in another.
You could ask each customer if they would give you the names of three relatives or friends that may need your services. You could also do the 5 around after, or during a job, that's either putting special written leaflets through the doors of the two neighbours either side and the three opposite explaining you've cleaned a neighbours that day. Instead of leafleting you could knock doors and hand out the leaflets and just introduce yourself, it often works far better than normal leafleting.

All these are basic things and I'm sure you have already thought of them so forgive me for being simplistic.

East Leeds is a stunningly beautiful area, with such cultural hotspots as Seacroft,Gipton and Halton Moor.If i can make it there, I can make it anywhere!!!!!!

just to pick up on what Simon said about 5 around, we have a new postcard printed just for this but we are doing about 30 around, if the can see the van they get a postcard.

we are getting aprox 2 jobs a week from them but coincidently none of them them have been within 5 doors of the job. so '5' around is worth doing.

Chrisjohn £45 for a full col spread for a year is amazingly cheap, my parish mag charges £30-£40 depending on the area its getting delivered to for a black & white ad slightly bigger than a bus.card. So to go in 3 or 4 areas we're paying over £100 per month!!
