hey

been thinking of buying a greenslide to fit on me wand. has anyone tried it? do they actualy make the work lighter and does it leave te carpet drier?

I cant do without my Greenglide.
I had it about a year, and after a back operation 18 months ago, there is no way I could do CC'ing without the glide.

The suction from the TM to the wand is immence, so it is perfect for me.

If its a glide you talking about - yes, it will make the job easier. But really, Derek says they only for girls!

As for leaving carpets drier - thats open to differing opinions.

3 types of glides that I know of - holes, slots, and a hybrid made up of holes and slots.
I prefer the slots, but again open to differing opinions.

There are also cheap glides and more expensive ones. Reports say the cheap ones are not so good. I have a Greenie - not a cheap one but a good one.

Glides are not so much an advantage with portables as with TMs due to the power of the TM, but you may still find it advantageous with a 3 vac porty.

I got a hybrid from Matt when he sold them,makes the job alot easier even with a porty.
Mine has worn quite flat on the face ,will this affect its performance, whats the life span of these things?

How's life with the t/m nowadays, have you kept your old clients and workers and targeted a different market for the t/m,or did you drop the old set up entirely?

I have carry 3 wands at anyone time 1 x slotted 1 x hybrid and 1 x un-glided wand the glides are a lot less stress-full but on some jobs that I do reguarly  (especially the dirtier carpets) were taking longer to clean. The slotted glide seems to leave the carpets drier than the hybrid but the wand is only 12 inch wide. So we use different wands on different jobs depending on soiling and carpet type. there is not as simple answer the glides are siliconed onto the wands and so I will not take on and off as once they work loose it is pointless having them anyway.
Would not want to go out without a bare wand in case I walk into a filthy carpet.

I also use wands one with and one without the glide depending upon the job that has to be done. The marks that they leave are a pain.

I had a hybrid glide - that is holes and slots alternate. They did leave "marks" ie stripes, that were a pain.

I machined the holes into slots and dont have the same problem now.
So, if I was to buy a new one again, and I would, it would be with slots.
