Sunny Day Out 2009
« on: September 29, 2009, 07:01:20 pm »
Due to popular demand  we have been asked to arrange another Sunny Day Out, possibly in the next few months at a location to be agreed.

A sunny day out for those that have never attended one is basically an excuse to meet up the night before and have a good old p up and a meal. Then the following day we all get together at say the Goodyear Club in Wolverhampton (or other location) and have a go with a whole host of machines from Truck Mounts, the very latest portables, hand tools and accessories. We will have all the big machine and chemical suppliers on hand and rather than charge them to attend they usually divvy up some goodies to be raffled off.

In short, an SDO is a CCDO without the £35 entry charge. All it will cost you is a fiver for your lunch and your petrol to get there.
This is not a commercial event so we hope the board administrators won't object to us creating awareness of it on CIU.

If you're interested in attend please add your vote.

I've never been to anything like this! CIU has been a massive help to me and has seen me completely change my methods and outlook to running a C/C business.

Alan from Swindon and Joe are just two of many many people on here who have been so helpful, and I would like to meet and say thank you to people like them in person.....

It's "Dr Pepper" Derek.... What's the worst that could happen? ;D

I voted yeas!!!!

Derek, the obvious question to ask after your quote is

did you go to the CCDO this year or last year?

After going to 2 CCDO's and 2 SDO's I would say that the CCDO is far more structured and you learn far more as there are speakers subjects ie Leather cleaning and repair and rug cleaning and demos such as Alltec and John Kelly's Prowler. If I'm going to have a day without pay but still be talking shop I would rather learn something and pay £35. I was at Alltec today and they were charging £175 a day for learning just one subject so £35 is very cheap. If I wasn't to pay anything but watch other cleaners push a wand around a carpet i may as well go to work.

'Sunny' is a state of mind and not a meteorological condition after having supped 15 pints of lager the night before.  8)

joe the question is, are you interested,
to say your not interested beggars belief

i did not go to the ccdo, as i said in early posts, i'd spent a lot on training and had a fair few days away from the office so to speak so felt another day off was not justified.
did i want to go? yes
was i interested? yes

will i go to this sunny day one? probably but not definately

am i interested? course i effin am, its about what i do for a living.

now do you get my point.

shaun
simons got the biggest truckmount.
but now your turning it into who arranges the best day out. anyone would think your on the board of the ccdo's new organisation ;) ;D ;D ;D

The ? is are you interested in attending.

Of course we are all interested in carpet cleaning but I think Simon is looking for numbers who would attend to see if its viable to put on.

Shaun,

You don't have to charge money to put on a show. We can get some of the top people in the business to any event we like, not because we're paying them but because they, like us love our industry. Simples!!

I agree with Shaun.  The ccdo had good structure with educational talks and demos so well worth the £35.  Without this structure whats the point regardless if its free or not.

Shaun

What did you learn at Alltec today then.

Are they not both valid?

Most people would learn something at both events. Only if they were on the same day would you have to choose.
