Will an NVQ soon be required in England?
« on: September 23, 2009, 05:09:34 pm »
Speaking to a guy today(seemed totally genuine) Anyways his Brother in law works for some Gov agency. Anyway, he swears blind that in about 18 months the Government will make it "law" that all window cleaners go on a 2 day NVQ course(luckily paid for by the Gov, as it would normally cost about 600) Has anyone else heard of this or know anything about this?  :-\

I hope it does become law to have one, stop all the people starting and stopping just think it should take a few months instead of days

Not looking for a fight lads, but go down the boozer, then tell your mates that you are doing an NVQ in window cleaning. Watch their reaction ;D I see what you mean about it stopping the beer money crew, but who would enforce it?

See what the Scotish blokes say about that mate. They can tell you about enforcement. They pay through the nose for a Licence and nothing much seems to stop the beer money crew up there. They still turn up by the van load and storm the streets. Not funny.

For a start the goverment don't even know who cleans windows and who doesn't. So who are they going to force onto an NVQ course?
Not me, i'm buggered if I'm going to give up what three days wages?
Who could possibly need an NVQ for residential windowcleaning work?
The only ones who want it at the moment are the commercial cleaners or the ones who think they are business experts.

No chance of the government shelling out £600 for every window cleaner to get an NVQ. Fair to say they waste money on all sorts of ridiculous schemes but even this is too much for them.

lost a few quid to othe rclenaing companies up here in scotland who ar enot licensed. Been onto the police and stuck them in with van details etc. When you start losing a few hundred quid to these people then it is time to sit up n take  action.
