Right im confused now.....

What size is standard hosepipe ? different places go by mm and others by inch

Basically my system goes like this.....

Tank - standard hose - hoselock - shurflo - hoselock - standard hose - hoselock - standard hose - hoselock - metal reel

Now i have a brass connector that fits where the last hoselock goes (just not the right size hose)

Can anyone tell me what size hose im going to need and connectors as trying to find a tape measure / ruler in this house is like trying to find the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow (never happens)

your not the only one mate....lol, I'm the same. I just read Marks post and thought bloody hell  1" hose...thats massive.......but now been amended...lol

It is 1/2 inch hose that fits over the hozelock connection. Not 1 inch.

Mark, I've just tried cutting a length of 1/2" garden hose and fitting over a male hozelock connector on my outside tap............it won't go anywhere near it ?

I buy my all my gear from gardiners. The one 3 up from the bottom is what i use.

That clear hose is what i ran from tank > pump > hosereel. With jubilee clips holding everything tight.
It is a tight fit over the male hozelock but a cup of hot water and soaking the end of the hose will do the job.

Thanks Mark, that was the hose I was going to get. Interestingly enough, I bought two male hoselock connectors on ebay with 6mm barb which I tried to use on the pole (rather than easy fit), they just kept blowing off the female, I used one from gardiners and no popping off........................but the 1/2" hose easily fits over these connectors snugly but not the Gardiners one...............so something tells me, all these hoselock compatible connectors are all not necessarily the same diameter ?

Mark, do you mind me asking what connector you have at the base of your tank?? with/without a tap, which you jubilee your 1/2" hose to ??

get one with a tap, at least if you need to sort anything out you can close the tank off, also good for winter when freezing

I have a plastic on off valve between tank and pump. Buy your tank and other parts from the same supplier. Tell them and they will provide you with what you neeed.
It's hard to say anything without complicating the matter further.

thanks Mark, so you have a 1" thread to 1/2" barb at the base of your tank, and then a tap inline??  Am I getting there mate...lol

do you have your tank yet ? I would call either purefreedom.co.uk or gardiners and get the lot over the phone, I used pure freedom twice for self install setups as they have every part needed.

Yes, have the tank, 650 upright in the van........just need ALL the other bits...lol. Just essentially need to know which is best to use at oulet point of tank. All I have at the moment is an open threaded hole...lol

I sourced a gas valve - one of those big red levers to shut the water off then fitted a hoselock after that. All the reducers etc can be found in B&Q or a plumbing store. Quality hosepipe can then be used to connect everything up - just get a reel of anti-kink half inch hose. The cheap stuff kinks and splits.

We use only John Guest connestors. Perfect and easy to instal-uninstall. No any drop of water into the van as well.

have now fitted them throughout my ro system which is in a hallway landing of my first floor flat as I could not take the risk of the system failing if I had continued to use hoselocks ( and it has with catostrophic results and run-ins with my neighbour   ), in my opinion these are the best if you need to easily connect/disconnect any part in your set up.

The advantage of these fittings is that they come is different barb sizes and this enables different hose dia to be connected...they are just plain good fittings...and do the job.

I had my doubts as to how watertight they would be too, but they are
each unit has a rubber washer and they twist together and lock, under pressure they push together forming a tight seal and no leaks.

i have been using these for about 18 mths there are all sorts of different types and they NEVER leak below 300psi so i was told cheap too and i can get em from a shop round the corner from me.The bloke there refers to them as GEKA fittings,quality stuff and versatile
