Well, believe me, you 'recoup' something for yourself. A 3rd party can 'recoup' it for you, but they don't 'recoup' you, they 'reimburse' you.
So, lets say you have a car crash which isn't your fault; your insurance company will pay out and will attempt to 'recoup' the excess you paid, from the people who were at fault. They will then 'reimburse' you the amount which they have 'recouped'. They will not 'recoup' you, they will 'reimburse' you.
