Hi,
I dont know if you use a spyware prog at all?
Anything can get in and do all sorts of nasy things to your PC without you knowing anything about it. Go here and I think you can Download and install a free version:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

It will check for adaware and spyware on your PC.
This is another one I use:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

not sure if there is a free version though.
I also use Spysweeper as well.   http://www.webroot.com/

They all work, but some apps find some bad files, and other apps find other files that the other ones doesnt!
But at least get the Free one as it is a MUST HAVE especially as its free  ;D

Thanks Benny ;)

Incidently, the email in question was from a user on this forum.

I dont hold him responcible at all, he is a good lad, and often sends out joke emails.

The email was a small downloadable movie regarding an old lady and a sex toy, it was quite funny, but the reason i'm telling you this is because, if he sent it to any of you guys, it will more than likekly have the virus attached to it.

If any of you guys recieved it.....DELETE IT

Cheers

Ian

Hi Ian

Although your problem seems to now be sorted I thought I'd offer a bit of info.

If your windows update is set on automatic, and you have recently downloaded an update, which you may not be aware that you have, especially SP2, then this could be your problem.

SP2 has its own in built firewall, I don't know what the default settings are but they may be enough tostop your password thing.

The point is that although you have rolled back to a previous configuration the automatic updates will be downloaded again, and again, and again etc.

If it is firewall then you need to reduce the security settings.

Also, be aware that your restore point may have gone back further than you antisipate.  If you have recently installed software then you may need to re-install it.
