hi there.
I need a second machine to work with the steampro powermax.  i find the powermax lacks a bit of suction strength when used with the 12in wand (ive ordered a 7inch to try). The choice seems to be between the ninja or the extracta exel.
Anyone out-there operate/recommend either of these machines?
It must be a portable.

Before I got my truckmount three months ago I used my extracta excell for three years and loved it ,it hardly ever let me down ,easy to fix and replace motors and pumps and my customers thought it looked impressive and there is good back up from extracta in Gateshead, highly recomend

Make sure you check out the weight of some of these porties.
I recently bought a new Ninja that weighs in at 45kg and that's a handful in itself.
Seen some, I think it's the Altec, come in at arouind the 63kg mark.
Just a thought.

I would also look at the power-flite pfx1085 been using it for about 3weeks nice bit of kit coupled with the right wand, puts my 135psi to shame as John said weight cost extra money

You aren't really going to gain that much power over your Powermax unless you go for the high power models. If you go with twin van and 135psi you may as well stick with what you've got.

Why not just buy an entry level truck mount and equip yourself with the real McCoy?
A Truck Mount will earn you far more money and make the initial outlay seem like small change.

There's a Blazer for sale in buy and sell too. It's a couple of grand ish.

You need a minimum of a swb transit size van and allow at least another 1k for odds and sods and repairs.

Simon is right and it's the route I took but it doesn't suit everybody's current circumstances.

Well I'm very happy with my Ninja. It's got all the bells and whistles but by gum it's heavy. But you get used to that. I have no experience of the other machines so I cannot comment.

And just to add grist to the mill of the discussion....

I have no intention of ever getting a tm. I'm too near to retirement (all being well) to make it worth my while. Do I give the best ever clean? I don't know and I don't care. But I do give what my clients want which is a clean carpet at a price they are happy to pay and have me back again and again on a regular basis and recommend me to their friends. Perhaps it's because I do a good job; perhaps they just like me; perhaps it's some other reason all together but as we all know it's the operator that counts.

It's not a case of porty=bad, TM=good, because the debate would centre around the continuum of machines whereby some top-end portys may be better than an entry level TM-especially then the operator is taken into consideration.

power filtes are good, i've used them before. are the pumps reliable?? i know that they cost £1000+ vat. suppose i'f they last 600 plus hours of use it anit so bad when one goes out after a couple of years.

Are you sure it is to do with the wand.? It could be the loss of vac power is down to the soil tank lid seal wearing and allowing air to enter causing loss of power.

Sorry not used one myself, just happened across it on ebay. I suspect if you service them regularly they will last

Hi Guys

My Extracta Excel cost more in relacement vacs and pumps than I used in chemicals.

Only buy if you are prepared to replace both vacs at least yearly.
