I've had enough of this pure water rubbish!
« on: September 03, 2009, 05:40:56 pm »
Really, really hacked off with it and windowcleaning in general!

Just had one of those days ::)
First clean on a smashing property, beautiful location, heated indoor pool the lot.
Except whatever they had painted their frames with seemed to bleed into the water, I cleaned the frigging lot four times and still wasn't happy with the results. On top of that some big panes had the worst calcium deposits i've ever seen, went through a whole sprayer of vikial and a good dose of the proper stuff (£30 a bottle) and still the stains remain. Snagged my hose on every thing in sight then started on the conservatory roof - except I didn't know the gutter wasn't clipped on properly - heard a gushing sound from the other side and watched all the filthy gutter contents pour down my nice clean windows.
Then the rain came, then the wind came, then I got my hose seriously jammed under the garden gate - threw my pole across the lawn in temper - looked up and the custy had just pulled up  ::)
After that the rest of my work went downhill - dog crap everywhere, cars blocking sensible access, hose snagging, raining etc etc.
Rant over, and I still hate the job!

Painted a matt cream - looked a fairly simple job, I estimated about an hour and a half including the inside windows of the pool. Took me four hours.
The pool windows hadn't been detailed at all by the previous cleaner so they had to be scrubbed. I reckon he was in the navy once.

Mrs K works in a supermarket. The other day some thug knifed a customer (reason unknown) and the missus had to hold a wad of Kleenex over the wound until the paramedics arrived.

We all have s#1t in our jobs from time to time mate.

Have a cold beer and hope things are better tomorrow ;)

You must be doing it all wrong Davith, most on here would've knocked that baby out in 20 mins, from pulling up to driving off without leaving a single spot behind! Also, all their custy's love wfp & love them too!

It must be user error as we all know wfp is perfect come rain, wind or crap paint!! :D

Have a beer & think about 12 hour nights!! ;)

I offered a rain guarantee yesterday, she laughed & asked how could I possibly guarantee it wouldn't rain in the next 24 hours!!! ::) ::) ;D

Just got in from collecting. It's the start of the silly season - you know telly is on, both cars are on the drive and no-one can be bothered to answer the door. Bar stewards.

on the plus side

the wind got really bad, so the dust would have settled on them wet water droplets and the windows would be full of spots anyway

 ;)

You always have the option of just cutting any problem customers loose and going to find a customer that isn't going to give you grief.

Thats what I do, sometimes its hard but once they are gone you feel so much better. As it is you are going to dread going back to that house. OK its not their fault but thts not your problem. You have to look after number one.

Window cleaning is not about just amassing as many customer as you can its about continuously sorting out the wheat from the chaff.

Also, what happened to their last W/C? why didn't he go back?

If this was a first clean and the windows were problematic why didnt you just trad em, you could have saved a lot of headaches if you had used a scraper on the over stain? Plus they would have been well fit for wfp the next clean
