You could try & wedge the rubber in place with something pushed between rubber & channel.

What's the deal with these "Wagtails"?

They don't look to be all that.

I've seen the video online, and apart from having a nice looking bit of skirt in it, they just dont look all that.

(looked like something you'd buy in a pound shop?)

Just my opinion

hey dilly , the wagtail fipper"s  the Best thing i ever bought for windowing. granted it hasnt any shiny chrome  but its just so quick   .  the wagtail rubber is pricey ,but  i only change it after at least a week  cos its  long lasting .

Got one in my van and hate the thing.

Good for inside conservatory roofs, other than that I haven't found a use for it.

i left mine in my van for 2 mths as just couldnt get on with it,

however ive used on some shop fronts and got the hang of it, and its a fantastic tool. just done a builders clean at a new waitrose store and it came into its own

all i can say is persevere as when youve cracked it you wont use anything else for trad
bad weather always looks worse through dirty windows

For trad work I use the wagtail flipper and wouldn't use anything else, it is a terrific tool once you get the hang of it, and you also get used to using way less water too, so much so that when I do use some of the ordinary stuff, I really hate the slops you get....

I use ordinary Ettore rubbers (soft) in place of the wagtail ones....they last me several weeks minimum, but then I am mostly WFP of course, although when 100% trad a rubber would last me 3 or 4 weeks easily.

The flipper is the best trad tool I ever purchased! Granted, it looks like something you'd see on QVC but in this case looks are very decieving!! Infact, it sat in my van for a while as I was convinced it wouldn't be any good!  This is the future of trad! All you have to do is master it, just like you would any other tool, it's a different technique/way of working. Personally, I don't use it on a pole, just by hand. I have modified a different applicator sleeve for when I require a wetter or longer working time between dips & use the original for insides etc. where I want less water retension in the pad. It's just soooooooooooo much easier & quicker with a flipper for me. More reach, any angle on demand, less drag, less soap is required, rubber (any rubber) lasts for ages & even with chewed up edges it hardley ever leaves any lines behind, it makes a better job too!!

I find though, that a smaller flipper is rquired to the equivelent squeegee it replaces. i.e. I use a 12" flipper where I used a 14" squeegee & so on. This may just be a personal thing to me though.

It's a pain to fit in a BOAB & no good for georgians IMO but all the other benefits way outweigh these minor niggles.

The new "blue ribbond" flipper will cure the BOAB issue though & this will be my next purchase. I'm also gonna modify a porcupine pad to fit the flipper for really dirty glass, initial cleans etc.

Anyone tried the blue ribbond flipper who has also used the original one???

Do they hold more water than the wagtail pad?

I use pulex standard (hard) in mine. It works far better in the flipper than  a normal squeegee. Probably because it's being constantly lubricated as the pad preceeds it. ;)

I USE  a trimmed down  red/white pulex microtiger as the pad -   i trimmed it down so that about only 1/4 inch fibre length -  this is so that itll still flip  and isnt too heavy  as using it all day

I've just bought the Blue Ribbon new flipper, only been cleaning for a month or so, so I'm no expert but I'll give my view anyway.
Initially I thought WTF is this as I opened it, it looked cheap and fragile and just, well.......cheap and nasty.   BUT, after practicing for a few windows at home I realised it's not cheap and fragile, it's just lightweight and designed to do what it needs to do.  Within 10 minutes I was really getting into it, and think I'll be sticking with it.   So for anyone that buys one don't be put off by the actual design and build, it works and works well IMO.

I also tried it on a small shop window today and was able to do the whole window fan stylee because of the pivot on a small pole without needing the steps from the van.  I detailed the edges with a m/f secured on the pole with elastic band.
