I didn't know about owned, or its slang use being utter defeat in an amusing and humiliating way, but very good use of a word Matt that probably doesn't get out much. For a bit of a wider acceptance, if you really want to champion this word can i suggest shouting it from the football terrace to humilate an apposing player.

However there is always the chance that the rest of the terrace will turn and 'own' you because they don't know what it means.

I found out a bit more about  JD, he is a real grafter apparently. He thinks nothing of working 12 hour days. He has a couple of vans on the road, drives a tidy car and so does his Mrs.
If you are prepared to work those kind of hours, you can turn over a few quid, even on what most of us would consider under priced work.

A trolley can be faster than a van mount on compact work. I heard that he turned up to do one domestic customer at 06.50 in the morning.

I heard that when he collects pre seven am he taps on the bedroom window with a small fishing net affair on the end of a pole and they have to put the money into that to save him waitingm for them to come down in dressing gowns.

Lol, but I wasn't joking.
I never did get to spend a day with the guy, so I can't disprove his claims, If there are 3 guys working 12 hours a day, they will turn over a fare few quid. He could never earn that kind of money on his own with the type of work and prices in the area.
3 guys taking £20 an hour would earn £720 for a 12 hour day, I believe he is claiming a turnover of 8 grand a month.

I think we all bragg a bit. Mostly when we first start doing stuff or breakthrough. I always liked jdmarco- the origninal poster that is- because his whoppers were huge and pure class. If paul whitehouse, or harry enfield ever think about sending us up i can't think of a better model.
