hi, i have a tds of about 57. Have been planning on getting just a Di vessel. If I went for a RO unit, would the RO unit bring my TDS down to 0ppm or woould I still need the DI??

thanks.
now i'm confused
i guess the RO unit will work out cheaper in the long run? I'm on a water meter but I can fill up at my mums so that not a problem. Any advice on what RO unit would be ok? Don't need to be producing loads of water yet so something cheap and cheerful that does the job.

also how long does it take to produce say 250ltrs of water using a RO unit?
and how long would a DI unit take to do the same amount?

Just be aware that tap water pressure needs to be around 60psi or more for good RO performance.

I think your wrong mate resin will not last for ages, my tds is 100 i have 2 di vessels 11 ltr ones, resin lasted 3 wks, if i could go the ro way i would jump at it.

no am not wrong, been using it for 6 years now. i think others are mislead into using ro machines when not needed, 57 is low tds, mines lasts for 4 to 5 months, something is wrong at your end :
and i use only 1 17inch by 8 di vessel

all i know is by your tds 100ppm and you using 2 linked di vessels and only getting 3 weeks is there is something wrong there, unless you do hundreds of windows everyday of the week, and if that is the case, it does not mean the di is not suitable for someone who may only do 40 houses a day

do any of you know the calculation for tds reading per ltr of resin. This would be able to give excact amount of water you can produce therfore work out cost.

I think the reason my di only lasted 3 wks is because i have just started wfp after being trad for many years, and i am taking more time doing the frames,im using 500 ltrs a day sometimes more.

now really confused!
I'm only going to be doing 1 day a week to start with, but obviously intend to get up to 5 days eventually (but intend to take my time as have full time job to get out of!) Really to be honest, at this stage I am looking for the cheapest possible way to get started and once I see that it's going to work i'll invest in better stuff.
So in your opinion whats going to be the cheapest way to get going RO or DI, as long as I get a 000 or 001 reading i'll be happy.

does anyone have an idea of how long a 300gpd RO unit will take to produce say 250ltrs of water compared to a DI vessel, are we talking ages and ages or quite quickly. and is there a big difference between the RO and DI
cheers
