Does anyone who works a 2-man (or more) truckmount team use walkie talkies to communicate?
I'm on fleabay, having a gadget-a-holic moment

Well Jim, I do not have TM but I/we do use 2 way radios.
Use them very often infact as we work on many floors/ accrross sites. Its cheaper than using a mobile. So yes if there is a need I would say that there a great little investment.
You do at times get interference say from police radios or other radios if on site or near you with a 1 - 2 mile radius. - But you just change the comms channel.
Is that what you wanted to know! I think ours cost around £40 - 60 mark.

I'm working at a school at the moment and they use them.... I should maybe ask if I can have one while I'm there.... Mind you, I still find it difficult to understand the accent down here and I'm pretty sure my Cumbrian "Twang" would be mistaken for interference
I'll stick to texting 'til I can spoke properly

We use them when working on cruise ships. They save acres of time and add massively to the efficiency of the team.
We use professional quality units GP340's.

Very posh radios Simon! How much does an OfCom licence cost? Is it payable annually or a one-off charge?

Not used these for CCing but I've used them plenty of times in the building trade. The not too cheap sets seem better, from my experience, e.g. more reliable when it comes to the signal penetrating through buildings. The PMR 445 types don't require a licence.
