how come there is such a difference in the amount of calls done on wet and dry days. i know on my round each call has a set day so the customer knows when to leave the gate open and money out etc. but there seem to be some window cleaners who have a different approach and the number of calls vary a lot day to day. how do you get around locked gates and monies etc

i hardly ever do my work the same day each month,its always left vague,iv found this to be best as then nobodys upset if its pelting down with rain //   so usually i simply climb over any locked gates ,or use a pole with a snick on it to hook open the bolt    or if too awkward i  leave them a note to open it the following day .   usually i collect the money the following month but i never leave it more than 2 months,in which case i call round in the evening to get us back on track.

Oooh now that's a good tip, I've just this week started building customers but not been out yet, and wondered how to get past locked gates without having to ask them to leave it unlocked - maybe they wouldn't be too keen on a bloke they don't know who knocked on their door only last week now asking for them to leave their back gate unlocked..

When quoting......" because we want to look professional and not like we are trying to burgal your house, or indeed risk damage to your gate/fence,we do not climb over gates/fences that are locked. If I could take your contact details, i can contact you prior to the clean, so that you know when to leave the gate unlocked. If possible when I have finished I will re-lock for you" simples

if it rains you dont do it and have to ring again punters propertys unlocked for two days easier to split ladder cant see how you can cause damage,
