From what I can see it's slightly bigger then the old one. Mine is pretty packed to the brim and it only has got a 400l tank in it. Has anyone got one of the new Berlingos?

I need to consider getting another van in time, and the new VW Transporter looks very very attractive. But I wonder how much more in road tax it will be, and how much more to insure. Haven't looked it up yet.

A small van has always appealed to me due to low running cost, but I find that they don't offer much in the way of business expansion. It's pretty much a single operator van. I'm not sure if I should go with another small(ish) van. 400l is okay for Domestics but with some bigger work the water dissapears quite quick. Not sure if I should get a 500l tank, which could probably go in the new Berlingo, or go for a transporter type with a 600/650l tank.

Any suggestions? How much are the new transporters in road tax, and is there any significant difference in insurance?

The newer Diesels do look very appealing in terms of mpg as well.

hi tim i didnt know u could get a 400lt in a berlingo im thinking a 250 in one and TRAD gear,ladders etc and fillin up again at dinnertime.{DI ONLY,35TDS round manchester}.u carry TRAD gear as well?one man band and im staying that way

It's an extremely tight fit, but it works. Weight wise I've got a 800Kg payload, so no problems there really. I carry trad gear as well, ladders on top too. Backpack, 2 DI's, RO, safety cones, the whole lot.

I'm managing just fine atm, and have no intention to employ anyone except for my wife, she doesn't know yet, but I might need her services now and then.

I have a friend who has the new Berlingo and he easily fits a flat 400 litre tank inside with plenty of space behind for reels etc.

He is getting about 45mpg out of it.

If you get the larger payload version you should be able to get a 650litre tank in as long as it is just the driver.

i have a berlingo only got a 175l tank in but with all the rest of the kit and ladders.i thought i was pushing the weight limit a bit.

Sounds pretty good. I might have to get my tape measure out and see for myself. I do love the look of the transporter though!

i have a old style berlingo ( multispace )

and it fits a 400 L tank in easy enough

I have really been looking at the New style Berling....with 800ish payload capacity...and it looks good too.

My thoughts are bigger.This next van you will have for at least four years possibly longer.Where will your business be then?
If you are certain this is the biz for you get a two man set up- even if you don't plan on using it-.

I'm still with the 04 scudo 900kg, but have just bought a new mwb transit which is for my other biz but will be sign written for w/c. I am so impressed with this i am going to get another that will be w/c.

It won't be so easy to park on drives etc, but a lot of things like ladders will go inside.

And talking of signwriting i was very impressed with squeaks van. I've been trying to get him to show for a long time because he doesn't always think like other people, but his vanity finally got the better of him and he showed it on an unrelated thread out of the blue.

The berlingo LX is a fraction dearer (approx 400 quid) than the base model but has LOADS of extras that would cost a fortune if fitted later! You can choose from multiple bulkhead configurations & you get a rear 12v socket, perfect for your pump! The correct model has a 852kg payload.

Broadspeed were doing the 1.6hdi 850LX for 9.5k ON THE ROAD inc VAT!!!!!!

only downside to the berlingo's are that they are built by pooREON

my old P reg passet estate which had done 210 K miles was in better shape, the build quality was better

Fewer extras the better IMO. Just more to go wrong. e.g. electric wing mirrors cost a fortune to replace.
