The best way to conserve water is to clean with a trolley or backpack.
Or simply just to turn your flow down.
Cleaning with a higher flow rate is much quicker, so you'll just need to experiment until you are using an amount you are comfortable with.
Whatever way you choose, you will initially be working slower than you have been.

allan i have had my autoswitch for a few years now, you have to maintain it every week, check the screws are tight ect, and once a month open and clean out the switch, if you do this you dont get any problems, its the best thing ever,

Does that not damage the pump as its still working away?

No the pumps are "on demand" pumps and shut off when the water flow is stopped
