Firstly hello from north wales to all, I was reading most of the threads until 04:00am this morning and has given me loads of information thanks for that  .I’m starting a window cleaning round on thursady morning and going on all the quotes I’ve given today I’m going to be busy. I made some business cards last night and some flyers and took them round this morning in a 10mille radius of home and the phone hasn’t stopped ringing since I’ve got back .to my question. Sash windows? how much should I charge for these .cheers

Sash Window we charge at the same rate as normal windows.

Leaded and geogian we charge more

I have a couple of jobs with sash windows. I 'phone them the night before.....standard, they are a nuisance, (after a call I get them to reverse the window position)...that is to say...the top window is proud compared to the bottom one. This is better with a pole. However, if the top one is recessed....it's a lot worse..those using poles will understand what I mean...not sure if that helps...but at least gravity and water ingress is not working against you...

I clean large sash windows on large properties so the amount I charge isnt per window but the whole job. If I were to charge then I like Paul would charge the same as a normal window. Leads and geogian are more. Because I do large sash I unlock the inside so that I can pull down the top section clean then push up.

Thanks, I wasn't sure, but I did charge the same price as the others. I have charged 6.00 p/h and unless I get a castle (bit of a buger to get a ladder up in the moat ) I think I’ll stick to that .I haven’t got any as such competition round my area up to the local town 9 miles away, only someone that does it on a weekend when he is not doing his day job .so I’m fully insured and ready for Thursday .Are the lead windows hard to clean?

Leaded windows are easy to clean but a pain when you have both sides to do and the sun is beating down on them, even worse when it is old lead.

I’m Just the other side of Pwllheli and its 6.00 p/house so far, but I’ve quoted 10.00 last night for a bungalow at Aberdaron and I got 3 of them to do there know at that price, and a local business man who was in Aberdaron at the time has a BIG house at Abersoch which I haven’t quoted for, but he just told me to do it anyway. And if I get in there (Abersoch) I’m sorted .

You have to consider the distance between each clean and price accordingly. Unless your doing Pwllheli and Abersoch itself. It is pretty sparsly populated round there, Your travelling time will less of a problem when you get a few in the same place. Should be some nice jobs round Porth tokyn. Porth Ceriad is my favourite place on earth. Dai

Something that hasn't been mentioned in the thread about sash windows:  when I am asked to do the insides as well, I tend to to the insides first.  This is because the top panel is usually sticking out further than the lower panel.  When the windows are fitted a bit loosely, this can sometimes allow liquid to run from the inside of the upper panel to the outside of the lower panel.  If you've already done the outsides, this can be a pane (pun intended).
