In Ireland you have your VAT, tax, PRSI, income levy, health levy,....... every year there's a new levy or scheme that makes the bill bigger. Between tax and running costs, over 50% of the money a business receives is gone instantly.
VAT is the worst,.. I try not to even think about it anymore. We're just unpaid tax collectors really as far as VAT goes.

 the reality is ron ,you keep your prices down and swallow the vat .

then i get some petrol which is 70% tax or more .

+ council tax, + reduced vat on heating bills, vat on most things you buy, road tax. Apparently, we're all going to be paying broadband tax soon too! You're taxed on every step you take!

Yes it is, but the best way to make sure that my VAT bill is covered is to take 25% of all income and stick it on a savings account, we get a choice to pay, monthly, quaterly, or yearly.Vat is 19% here, but I like to have abit extra, just incase..........

Don't know about UK, but income tax starts over here after your income goes over 5500 a year, then it's about 22%.
