Going in cheap and paying the price.
« on: July 12, 2009, 11:18:58 am »
When I started I was desperate for work and had no understanding of pricing work. Just had a phonecall from a lady wanting her conservatory roof cleaned again. I couldn't remember her so I asked her how much i charged last time. Apparently I cleaned the fascias, gutters and conservatory roof for thirty quid  :o
Don't know what she thinks her conservatory roof will cost next week.

Time to explain that you were new and had no understanding of pricing.
I'd tell her that due to your regular customers, you only have a few days per month where you can do one off jobs and these are done for regulars.

Tell her you will give her a quote for the roof, but its under a new pricing scheme from when you last cleaned it.

Be nice and a little appolagetic and you'll probably still get it. She knows you do a good job, that's why she's rang you.
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

10 quid and count yourself lucky ;)

you could allways show her your pole and explain how the sunlight makes it sparkle so nicely, she will be blinded by that and you can charge a monkey

In that situation I always say: "Yes but £30 was on the basis of regular bi-monthly cleans...ad hoc cleans cost £50"
