I've been hunting around my house, and van looking for a cheque a customer issued to me.

Turned everything upside down, inside out, and just gave up resigned to asking for another one.  :-[

Written out my apologetic letter requesting they cancel with the bank and issue me another cheque when it confirmed as cancelled.  :'(

Printed it out, and was about to put it in an envelope - when i found it in my scraper pouch in my bum bag.  ;D ::) ::)

God knows why i put it there, but i feel much better now.  :D

Firstly cos i found the cheque, and secondly so i dont look a complete numpty asking for another, cos i lost it. Never had to yet, and i dont intend ever to have too.

Bit of luck they are paying via bank transfer in future :D

That's handy. I gave a £10 customer a wrong address and couldn't retrieve the cheque. She cancelled it and it cost her a tenner. Which ended up costing me the tenner she owed.

Yes lesson learnt.
I didn't know she would cancel, cos no-one else could cash it unless they had a bank account in my name anyway.
I then never realised it cost a tenner to cancel a cheque. Nor did she.
I accepted it with good grace though. She's a top customer. I never see her when i clean and she posts payment straight away.

Bank it anyways,

they never check the cheques, i have put through cheques with no name no signatures no dates, and they all go through.
