hello people-am planning to start carpet cleaning within 2 weeks time. this is what ive planned -ur comments will be helpful. thanx

i dont have lots of capital- so am planning to hire one of the following- Prochem steameasy 200/400 or the numatic CT750/900/570.
i need to register my business- dont no how to get that done.
please fill me in on the goods and bads of the business.

Hi Bryan,

This isn't an easy option to make easy money, you need to know what you are cleaning & how to clean it.  Where are you based?  Someone might be willing to let you work for them for a few days, but you'd have to be willing to travel to them and to work for free.

You will need Public Liability and Treatment Risk insurance (abt £250) - remember this is the age of compensation and if you go in totally untrained and with no experience, you could risk losing more than the cost of a good course.

Just to recap on what Cheryl said. The best thing to do is really to get on a training course, either the NCCA provide a good course or if you are using Prochem products they are are also offer training as well.

If you start from scratch without any training or experience then every job will be like an experiment where you do not know the result .

This must lead to problems.

It is a steep learning curve , but the no training approach will make it steeper.

The courses differ in price depending on who you go to.
Probably the most recodnized course is the one that Prochem do themselves.

Each course lasts two days, ie Carpet & Upholstery, but are very good, and i think it costs in the region of about £185 + V.A.T
However, you say that you have a Steameasy, did you buy that new? because they used to give you a day free if you spent over a £1000

Regards getting some tips!  If you look back on previous posts from other newbies, you will find loads of good start up info, which will keep you going for a few hours
