trolley system questions
« on: April 26, 2005, 06:27:56 pm »
i wonder if anyone can advise me about whether or not a 'trolley system' would be my best option here?ill explain my situation- I currently clean around thirty houses a day(all upvc frames), each with four climbs a house.all of my round is within about two minutes walk from my home, and so i wondered if a 'trolley system' would be a good idea seeing as i want to get a reach and wash sytem? could anyone tell me what size tank i would need for this amount of houses&how many refills id need  in a day if at all ,or if id be able to  push it around all day easily enough-legally aswell!(if thats how they work!?) any advice and tips  would be appreciated, thanks. :)

It's probably perfect for you. 30 houses a day, 5 days a week.....all in a 2 minute walk.....no refilling problems then....so..600 houses a month...all within 2 minutes....It seems densely populated where you live...lol...but if that's the case...you're on to a winner. ! I use about 200 litres over about 12 ordinary semi's...maybe a bit more...so I'd guess you'd use about 350 to 400 litres a day...depends on how dirty they are...Yes a trolley is easy enough to push around all day...if your round is that close...you won't even need a vehicle.....fair bit of walking though.

Hi Duke

I may be missing something, like the obvious as usual, but how do you push (or pull) that much water around as even 100ltrs would weigh 100kgs or 220lbs?

Cheers

i assume you will be going home to pick up another 25ltr water butt when they run out? as 25 ltrs will do about 3-4 houses if tops only, if these details are correct then i would say a trolley system would be ideal for you, you could ofcourse make a trolley system that could carry 2 water butts (50ltrs in total) that would save you walking home so often, wish my round was all within 2 mins distance

My aquatec trolley (which I carry in my car) when fully laden has 50 litres of water (nearer sixty actually as if you brim the containers you get 29 litres in them.) I also have an 85amp leisure battery (15kg) so all up with pump and the trolley the whole ensemble is about 75kg - which is pretty hefty and tough up high kerbs or on steps.

From my car - unless I'm doing a commercial I only put one barrel on (25 litres) and if you did "tops" of four windows per house I reckon that after the first clean you would use 7/8 litres per house.

If you do the whole house you need to add doors/patio's etc. and you would use a minimum of 15 litres I reckon.

Does your round have many steps/back entrances with locked gates etc? That makes a difference to your method of working.
It's a game of three halves!

Hi Malc

Yet another possibly daft question.

Does your trolley have 2 wheels or 4?

The reason I'm asking is because we are now definately going over to WFP's for some of our work and threads like this one are particularly interesting.

Cheers

2 wheels - look on Peter Fogwills aquatec window-tools site and you'll see it.

Bigger the wheels the better and you need 4wd

I dont Ross...I carry 5-6, 25 litre water containers in the van...plus a full trolley.(50 litres)...the trolley rarely comes out of the van...it's used mostly as a van mounted system.....I just extended the hose to the pole by 35 metres. I top the trolley up when low, from the containers. I stop at the customers place, take the pole off of the roof (it's in a soilpipe with an end cap on it...it's already attached to the trolley, walk round the job and clean. Finish, pole back on roof, switch trolley off...on to the next job. Takes minutes. I also have the option of going back to the Unit for more water if I need to, but that's rare. I can do up to 20 jobs with that....enough for me..!

i live in the middle of five council estates , so there loads of rows, all close together. thanks for the water amounts-i wont have a problem coming home for more water....could i get a motorized trolley , with maybe a little motor to assist the pushing it around? also how many litres can you realistically heave around on one of these trolleys-obviously the less trips back to the magnetic power of my couch , the better ,for me!
