They dont know him well enough, :o
go round your custies and tell them what he is planning to do
and ask them to give you a chance to prove yourselves,
then if you are better than him you can give him the 2 fingers.
 ;D ;D
I started out with nothing......I still have most of it.

Sorry to read that you are in this situation.  It would probably be best for you to go and see all the customers on the round you bought or leave letters for them and explain the situation.  Chances are they won't be happy with the old window cleaners behaviour and they might give you a chance to prove yourself.

Did you give all money upfront??. We bought a round and I made up an agreement (not sure if it was actually worth it..lol, but just in case). We paid a deposit, and agreed that we wanted all customers numbers/adresses and would work the round for two months and introduce ourselves (which we did), and not canvass any and do a runner without paying.

In turn, the guy received no more money until we had established it and if we lost any, i.e they moved, got another cleaner, etc... we deducted this from the final payment. It worked fine.

If it is an honest round I honestly think it should be paid in instalments.

Another guy wanted it all upfront, and we said instalments....................funny, he decided not to sell it and have never heard from him again.

Really sorry to hear that m8  :(  Hope it works out
If Carlsberg made window cleaners....I'd be one of them....lol

Yeah that's what I would do.What an utter lowlife. This is one of the main reasons I've always been wary about buying rounds.

I'm not a violent man in the slightest but I'd be tempted to give him a hiding. It's the only language scum like that understand.I'm guessing he charged you a lot of money for the round so it's basically theft.

WOW!

OK! Did you have any evidence of your agreement i.e written, advertisement, etc.  How did you pay your deposit by cash, cheque.  Check back and see if you have any information received from him etc.

Look it all depends on how much the round is worth before considering any further steps but you may want to consider taking advice on a possible injunction to stop him from working in the area but this would not guarantee the customers would come to you.  What you could do if sucessful is to let the client know the round has been sold, he was not trustworthy and you would hope that you could continue their service on a trial basis.  If they are not happy then they can give you notice not to do any more windows for them.

If you can get enough information together there is some prospect of obtaining an order to stop one from working in the area.  Why was he selling it anyway?  Was it his intention to commit a deception from the start after all that is what it is and there is laws about this type of behaviour.

Go the smart way not an eye for an eye although tempting could put you in the sought of trouble you do not need right now or at anytime.

Good luck

Slightly different but 3 years ago two employees took it upon themselves to photocopy worksheets and then inform customers i was no longer working in their area. A solicitor wrote them a letter threatening court injucntion if they desist from their actions. I then post a copy of the solicitors letter to all customers with a brief explanation about what was going on. I got all my customers back plus a few of neighbours these had picked up as well .

In regards to your situation take legal advice, failing that i would do him a bit of damage

You really need to make an appointment with a solicitor taking along as much evidence of the transaction as possible i.e. bank statement showing money being drawn out, the receipt for the sale, the customer list he gave you, even a print out of his advert on 'roundsforsale' together with anything else you may have.

And let them tell you the best course of action!

The round in question has now been removed.

Thank you for notifying us of the situation.

Also: If anyone has bought a round and it is still advertised as being for sale then please let us know.
