Hi All.....

For all those of you who are in the builders and sparkle cleans, how many cleaners do you have in each team.....or do you not have teams but allocate various cleaners to each job as they come?
Now that work is getting much more bigger and busyier, i was thinking of putting in teams of 3 cleaners and sending 1 or 2 teams to each site as the work was needed! A colleague of mine said they used to have teams of 2 only, and send in the people as needed.....

How do you guys do it?

for our normal build clean sites, IE GW, and DWH we send in a crew of two, maximum per plot, for anything over 3 beds, below one person can eat it.

at the moment we have the 4 vehicles on the road, with a mix of double and single crew, therefore we are able to crew up or down accordingly if we get a multi plot call off,

for instance we have a street scene to do on Monday and we have 3 guys going on site to do that.

we only really over staff at builders qtr end, easter and christmas.

but its going quite well at the moment. and the commercial build clean is getting busier, i'll keep you informed.

In my experience it has never been straightforward enough to have a set number of workers in a team. We often find that, especially when dealing with large apartment blocks, the quantity of cleans and type of clean can change all too often at the last minute.

We have found it works best to have a pool of workers, who are experienced enough to deal with each stage of the clean i.e. builders, re-clean and sparkle and split them up as needed. If we have a whole floor, say eight flats, to build clean in a day they we can fill it with as many as five or six people. Other days when we've only got a couple of sparkle cleans to do, then often one person can complete these.

It really depends on how well you've priced up the contract, as to how many people you can hit this type of work with. We've being going for almost three years as a limited company and currently have around 480 apartments on the books at the moment, split over five sites.

Some days you can eat the work up by packing the flats full of people and other days you may get streched by having to split everybody up across the different sites, then it really becomes hard work.
