What sunglasses do you experienced WFP folk use?
Cheap and cheerful throw-aways?
Expensive quality ones?
A balance between the two?
I need to get some, I think. What do you recommend?
It's a game of three halves!

I always carry around 5 pairs. They always get scratched, so I go through a few pair a year. Cheap ones with the UV mark are the best, I pick them up for about 3 quid each.

i wear glasses, and last summer was a nightmare for sun glare for me.
so i decided to buy some self tinting ones that go really black when the sun and uv rays are at their strongest.
i will buy them for the rest of my life i guess, because they are awsome, absouloute genius.

sun goes in, glasses go clear. Sun comes out, pure black shades.
 wahoooo.

if you wear glasses, try them out, they are a must!!
dust is low fat so eat as much as you want!!!

When I first started window cleaning (the trad method) never gave it a second thought about wearing glasses but after a couple of years My eyes used to really hurt on bright days and on top of that the missus would accuse me of lunch time drinking my eyes were that blood shot.

What about the sun tan??? Wearing sunglasses would surely give you white rimes by the end of the week and its the tan that everyone envies us for.

Hi sham33

Raybans are the best.

I worked on the railways and raybans were standard issue for train drivers. The only reason they are so expensive is that they do not change how any colour looks.

Red is still exactly the same red as if you were not wearing them. They were meant for USAF pilots originally but others, like BR, issued them because they do not change how a colour is seen. If you think in terms of possible train crashes etc etc and all the ramifications etc etc.

After privatisation they didn't worry. Drive a train into blinding sunlight low in the sky and if you go through a red light, then it's your fault. Sod who gets killed, it's who gets blamed that matters.

For window cleaning, I use a cheapy pairs of UV jobs now and they seem fine.

Having said that, the raybans I had were nice and cool to the eyes in bright sunlight. Very relaxing. Even looking at the sun was bearable.

Sun will burm spots into your cornea as in USA. I use cheap plastic shades that are graduated darker at the top £4, they push fir onto the top of my head when parked. You can only use them when wfp - dont really work fopr trad methods.

I have polarized prescription lenses, great for driving, can't work in them though. Well I could but if I leave a mark on the glass I cant see it the same.
Can you get clear lenses that filter out the glare?
