flat battery blues
« on: April 07, 2009, 02:08:19 pm »
Doh ! Doh! Doh !

Yesterday i thought the battery was a bit on the slow side, but being bone idle and like a numb nuts I didn,t take it out of the van and charge it up.
Paying the price today. Several good quality customers lined up, about three hours work for a good earner, all up the swanney.

Oh well looks like I will have to get back to the gaedening for the afternoon.

D0h !  >:( >:( >:(
if it is dirty it is fair game

If you are using a van mount wire it straight to the van battery.

I have been having problems with leisure batteries going flat and dave morris said forget the leisure battery and wire it straight to the van battery.

I was a bit hesitant as i was worried it would flatten the van battery but i wired my pumps straight to the van battery at the weekend and done away with the leisure battery and i must say its working excellent.

wish i had done it sooner instead of waisting my money on leisure batteries.

Red wire off + side, Black off - side ...plug pump in

Simple, i run 2 systems all day long.

You could run it trough cigerette lighter, get a plug from halfords and red and wire off it to pump. Simple

LWC Is correct, you can run through the cigarette lighter socket, we have one van that way.

We have another wired into the interior light circuit, and another straight from the battery.

I reckon just local driving will keep the battery topped up.

Nothing to lose i suppose if you carry a spare just in case,i`ll bet some van batterys might struggle but i wouldn`t think a newish van would.I pump or 2 dosen`t drain the batterys to much at all try using hot water and doing that, happy days i think not lol. ;D

If your just running pumps you won`t have trouble running off the battery,i run hot water and the only thing i could do would be to keep the 2 leisure batterys just for the heater and run the pump off the main van battery.
