What RO system ?
«
on:
April 04, 2009, 09:05:46 pm »
As most people have seen on here that i bought a TOSS RO system (75GPD pro version that only produces 22.5GPD)
Am sending it back as its not doing what they say it does.
What i want to know is (and i should have asked this before looking back)
What RO system should i get ?
Advice on a postcard to the usual address

I'm guessing your tap pressure is rubbish, so I'd advise against a merlin,... you bought a 75gpd system so a 4040 might be a bit overkill, but maybe a 20" one with an ultra low pressure membrane would suit you?

how much water do you use and can you see your self using for the foreseeable
future.
i use a 300gpd does me fine infact its probably overkill for me as i only use
250 ltrs max a day but it produces it easily without stressing im going to
run out.

I am assuuming you want to do as cheapest as possible in the short term. Something that will get you by the 1st 3 - 6 months.
If you are starting out and building up your round you could get away with
100-150gpd.
When you are busier a 300gpd with booster pump will be big enough to supply you as a sole trader.
But although your RO is not man enough, the only thing that makes it like that is the membrane. Swap that over with a bigger one or add another membrane to it and you have a bigger RO. Explore that avenue 1st as the cheapest option.

You will have to spend some more money anyway. But the biggest loss with this is only the time you have spent on it and the frustration you have felt.
This is a very solvable issue that is easily resolved. You won't have to throw anything away. Just adding stuff to it.

Another option is adding an extra membrane to your existing system,.. one of these could be plumbed in easy enough:
http://cgi.ebay.ie/100-US-GPD-3-STAGE-AQUARIUM-REVERSE-OSMOSIS-SYSTEM_W0QQitemZ260379429105QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Fish?hash=item260379429105&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2

And even replace your existing 75 gpd with a 125gpd low pressure membrane:
