I'm producing 1litre of pure per minute as recommended by the manufacturer, and 1.8 litres of waste. does this sound about right?

yes 2 - 1 isnt that bad ( infact for a RO its good )

i have fitted a little tap tp the waste and i close the tap slightly, it cuts down on the waste a little

i close the tap by about 1/4 of a turn

the pure water flow increases and the waste slows down a little
