how long to fill standard 1000 litre tank ?
« on: March 18, 2009, 06:52:41 pm »
Just wondering what do you think cos the system i got (omnipole) is second hand and has not been used for about 6 months, so far its been running for 12 hours and only just half full, is there something i can do to speed things up.

Thanks
Sam

What ro do you have if you have one ??

Could you say what you have on the system in full will help with the answers and also tap pressure if you know that as already said.

RO, now u testing me its the omnipole 1000 litre set up with red 50 litre trolley the tank is 1000 litre capacity and has 3 long blue cylinders hanging vertical with 3 smaller white cylinders horizontal above the blue ones as you can see far from mastered the technical terms yet but sorry its best i can do for now,

your advice/ answers are very much appreciated.

It's the RO-man 300gpd as marketed by Omnipole.  Take no notice of the '300gpd (gallon per day) as none of them ever produce what they're supposed to.

An 'unboosted' 300gpd should produce about 1000-1500 lts a day, so yours is about right.  The older systems did have a high pure/waste ratio and if you try to reduce this the membranes will suffer.

I would recommend changing the prefilters (the ones in the vertical cylinders) as these are probably knackered, and will damage the RO membranes (in the horizontal cylinders) if they're not replaced.

Buy direct from RO-man or from most on-line suppliers of WFP equipment.

If this is a omnipole 300gpd system then it will take about 18-24hrs for it to produce 1000ltr of pure as i have the same system I cant really give you an exact figure as i have my system in a lockup so basically i take out 800ltr's in the morning and by the next morning it is full again but that was the figure given to me by omnipole themselves, mine is nearly 5 years old now and has a booster pump on it. You can speed things up slightly by changing the flow restrictor that is connected to the waste pipe but doing this will use your membranes and resin up quicker so not really worth it.

hope that helps

500 L in 12 hours

thats 1000 L in a 24 hour period

i dont know if you have guys working for you etc etc, but if you havent, that will be more than enough water anyway

That works out at 960 lts per 24 hours.  A bit on the low side - what's your pressure after the booster?

That`s to long with a pump it should be more like 3.5-4 at the most.
