Hi guys n girls,

I have been looking at a system called staffcheck from expolink to track staff actual working time. They have quoted approximately £5000 plus vat which i find a tad prohibitive, is there any other systems out in the marketplace which would perform the same task but at a better cost. I'm also interested to know what systems others employ to monitor staff working times.

Cheers Mark.

P.s. sorry for the subject title i couldn't think of a sensiible one so lol

excellent idea Mark, £5k is a fair whack, but is it limited to a certain number of staff (like payroll software sometimes can be). I would be interested in that sort of set up, but i only have 3 ladies working for me at the mo, so I would be keen to know if there was a system whereby the charge was per head of staff and increased as and when new staff joined.

Also is that a one-off payment or a yearly fee or what?

Cheers!

Jan ;D

anyone with facebook can add me at this link ...  jan 'minkeedj' kindon  .... if you can be bothered lol

Hi there Mark,

As you know I'm currently working two hours a night 5 days a week at a cleaning job to get more experience before starting up on my own.

It's a big company I'm working for and they use the system staff check.

I don't know how much they have paid but they have about 45 sites. My thoughts are that it is a good system on large  sites where there is an onsite supervisor who oversees things. On small sites where the cleaners work in pairs without any supervision the system is open to cleaners taking it in turns to clock in and out for each other and that instead of working every night they take it in turns to have the night off when the boss actually thinks there are two cleaners on each night. This has certainly happened on some accounts that the company I'm currently working for has.

Cheers Mark ....Maggi K

Hi Jan and Maggie,

Thanks for the replies, when i spoke to Expolink they said normally they dealt with companies with staffing levels of 70 plus, i asked for info on any systems they had for smaller businesses but so  far no joy.

I would estimate 70% of the price was a one off leaving 30% has renewable i.e. licence and support package.

I do think that their needs to be some form of  control in place, although it won't eradicate all fraudulent time claims it will make your staff wary of trying it on.

Before anyone jumps in says what about surprise site visits , i do these

If i can't find a system to suit my requirements/budget  i will simply purchase a second mobile have staff ring it on starting/finishing from the clients phone leaving a voicemail message. I have sounded out my clients they have all been positive  about my suggestions for monitoring staff working  hours.

Cheers Mark.

I have looked at staff check myself (got my quote this afternoon). I only employ 35 odd people and it does seem like a lot of money. I think that the only people who take the p***s  on leaving early or not coming in at all will soon find a way round the system ( like the previous posts show). I think the best way is a signing in log at every site and then the element of suprise helps as well (turning up without notice). One other option that I have been given on some of my sites is to ask for a clocking in card for your cleaner (if the site operates a clocking in machine), this tends to work.
I hope this helps
