help needed guys.
« on: March 14, 2009, 03:24:51 pm »
i use sodium chlorate weedkiller from time to time and i used it on a drive which had blocks with flags in the middle. the flags are those traditional grey flags. the woman phoned up after 5 months and said that the flags are all marked with yellowish stains on and she said it was only since the sodium chlorate was used.  What can i do to remove these stains as im not sure cold pressure will do it and im not sure if anything at all will get them out.  i use the weedkiller all the time on blocks but whay has this happened?  any help would be good guys  :-[ :'( :'(

Never heard of this.

I think she's pulling a fast one, especially after so long. Looks like she's after a refund or a free clean.

In my experience the worst case is that Sodium Chlorate dries white around the edges of block-paving but rain will clear tis in no time at all.

ds,
i would go round to see it. take photos of it. put them on here so we all can see. to me shes pulling a fast one.

or ask her what she whats you do about it and if she say well you could clean it again than you know what shes after. then its up to you i would then just clean the bad bits.

if you see any signs of algae or moss and if so i would ask her straight out wot she
has put on her driveway to kill it off that way you might get your answer
sounds like she is trying to blame you for something she has done
herself or maybe some helpful neighbor put the idea in her head !!!

The thing here really is that I don't think that your weed killer has caused the problem - but if it gets nasty do you have a ticket to spray in the first place ? search the previous posts for fertiliser stains but I can't remember a clear remedy. I have tried rust remover from my carpet spot kit with limited results

I am no chemist but the original post is talking about an old fashioned weed killer that I think is going to be withdrawn, and Rob, that paving expert post is talking about a mixture based on bleach. I stand to be corrected but I think I'm right

Come on chaps, this is getting silly!

Sodiuum hypochlorate is  BLEACH although bleach is only about 5% sodium hypochlorate

Sodium clorate is weed killer. Iv'e used it by a watering can (not sprayed) many tmes even after cleaning and never left any marks
I'm always in the poo, it's just the depth that varies

listen rob i know you like to sound technically brilliant and all that but i used the sodium weedkiller to kill the roots of weeds not clean the surface, i have used it many times and it has never stained the surface. i have used it after cleaning many times, some people use it before cleaning or after to kill any remaining roots.  i dont want bleach i want weedkiller!!!    i think bdcs and drivewasher understand me!!!!  ::)
