the company was called tio2 it wasnt actually self cleaning glass but a application
that you put on any glass to make it self cleaning its supposed to last 3 years per application .

Blimey.  They took a chance going there didn't they?   :)
I listened to the guy, sounded interesting but asked questions that could not be answered, think they rushed into being in the show without the homework

Can't see why Alex would need to attend any shows when his poles sell out within the first hour of stock arriving.  ???

I just think its bad stock ordering!! which is his lost as he is losing business!!

I personally think it was not Alex's fault more he relied on others and got let down making him look bad. I will do a show for you Alex  ;)

To be honest why should Alex go to the show, the real reason i would bet is that he dosen`t feel the need  to get business. Why load all that kit in a van when it`s not needed,if your selling a product before it`s on show your doing something right.

Thanks Ian  ;).  Part of the delay was being let down by others but also we're not made of money! We ordered a large first batch, it pre-sold and we had to wait for the next batch.  We're nearly there though.

Kind of sums up our philosophy  :).  We're not out to sell more stuff than anyone else just sell enough to keep the firm going.

i dont blame alex for not going, a lot might disagree with me but i feel its better to grow a business slowly  using your own capital and not borrowing to fund it also if you grow slowly you can make sure you have the right staff and good customer backup so avoiding getting a bad name.
i have seen lots of firms grow very fast and you wonder how they are doing it next thing you know they are bust, im sure alex has a good business plan by what he has achieved so far.

why didn't I think of that ?? !!!!!! Aaarrggh !!

I wanted to go to the show to try out the SL2. Glad I didn't go now because I wouldn't have seen one !! . . But I still bought one yesterday. Reason . . 1stly, I've heard a lot of good things about gardiners poles. 2nd, Alex is always ready to help with replies and 3rd, one of my friends has one and he loves it.

It's ok to go to shows and try everything out, but sometimes it's nice when someone has used it in the real world.

I wish all the best for Alex and his business.

by keeping costs low, and an almost non existent marketing budget, well i suppose time spent on here is expensive really, it gives an unbeatable cost operating base.

At the mo he has a two year technology lead over the other guy's although they are starting to catch up and catch on (glider pole etc). but should it ever come to a price war he can chop it by half and still have a smile on his face.

In fairness though setting a price must be hard- the stuff on web is probably double up, so self procured might be three times and this sounds like money for old rope, but a lot can go wrong or need reengineering and i suppose that some customers just like us actually cost money.

All the same, as we are all mates, and don't want to pay over the odds at some show you'd think he would do them a bit cheaper.
