advertising yellow pages
« on: March 08, 2009, 11:19:42 am »
we are new to this site and the cleaning industry. We would like to know weather advertising in the yellow pages would bring plenty of new business? do any members use these types of marketing companies and if so how do you find the response?also any indication of cost involved using yellow pages would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

I would look through the archives if I were you, personally, I will not be renewing my ad with them. Nor will I renew my ad with Thomson Local..... But we all have different opinions on the matter hence the suggestion of searching past posts....

Chocabloc,

You would be wasting your money as if you consider howmany tomes you use it yourself. If you need to find company most people and businesses would use the net and/or yell.

You should also consider the type of person who would nowdays use yellow pages, i.e they have no internet access, what age bracket would this be and the amount they would then be prepared to spend, if you put all three togeather then a negative image is already in the mind

I paid £5000 for advertising un it 3 years ago. I might have well burn't the cash the return was that bad.

Regards

Graham

We are advertising in it this year, for the first time but not for our core services.

I will be advertising in the Drain jetting section (as I believe that people still look in the yellow book for this service). I may well be proved wrong but I also got an ad in the commercial cleaning section included for the same price.

yellow pages works really well for the drains but I think its a waste of money for most other things. I only use my proper dial code and not those dodgy numbers they try to force you to have and thats what most people say why they chose us. I also sub for one of the big firms and get their work in my area

I have just renewed my yellow pages account. Before i just had the free listing in the book and online ( it only takes a few minutes to do).

I have decided to add my website link to yell. com, i think this was around £60 for the year which you can pay over 10 months. I also took out a more prominent add in the book and put my listing in both the domestic and commercial sections which cost about £90. The new book comes out in june so we will see how it goes.

I started out with just the drain hose but you soon realise that you need a bigger unit - you can get a 3000 @ 8 for a couple of grand thats good for domestics. I've now got a Harben 4012 with a remote and the drains form the main part of my income

Can you ring me reference the drain jetting work. Emailed you last night. We both know there is money in drain jetting so if its subbed it is still good money.

We have had a free listing on yell.co.uk since we started 2 years ago and have received most of our enquiries through this ad.  In fact, we haven't had to actively do any other advertising as we have received enough through the ad.
Last year, we added the link to our website which was about £90 plus vat.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
