There's another similar thread to this going on about getting people to pay by cheque.

We have just started getting people to pay by BACS direct into current account, they simply quote first line of address as their reference, no bank charges, no waiting for cheques, no going out collecting on the dark winter nights and so far is working very well.  Probably got 20% of those who aren't in paying this way now.

Never thought of PAYPAL, is there a charge involved with that?

HI,
I use Nochex aswell. To be honest, not many use it, but it is far better than paypal, as they guarantee no chargebacks and u get your money a lot quicker too.

As far as the BACS method goes, I am currently trying to get all my regular cheque payers to convert over to standing order, it is so much better and easier.

I have got a "standard" standing order form on here if anyone wants a copy.

I've just started with standing orders and find out if they work on the 1st April when I should receive my first payments.

It's got to be better, quicker and easier than cheques, cash or any other method.  It almost guarantees you a good customer.  I dropped a customer last week because after I'd carted two sets of ladders and my bucket to his property, he said, 'Can you give me a miss this week, please'.

I asked why and he said, 'Cos my missis hasn't done the insides'.

I couldn't be bothered to explain to him why I wouldn't be back; just did a shart 'eee-bout tarn' and marched off.  This wouldn't had happened if he'd already paid.

One clean per calander month for one monthly payment.  And if you ever did miss anyone, you could just give them the cash back!

I also wait a week sometimes two for cheque payments, and up to three months on commercial. Its all about cash flow if you went into a shop and told you you had to pay by cash only not many people would shop there. And surley if they pay by pay pal they have to do it up front?whats stopping them sending payment by pay pal a week later its no different?

Another advantage of Nochex is that the customer doesnt have to be a member, they can just click on your payment link, and enter their credit card details. They can only send £100 a day, but plenty of customers bills exceed that amount - I wish!!  ;D Quick and easy, a big plus over Paypal - if I wasnt already a member, I dont think I would bother with the hassle of signing up just to pay a bill when there was another easier option.

Their fees are cheaper as well
