I have just been looking through Peter Fogwill's Aquatech site, and read with interest that he does a waterproofing and van floor protection using a Fibreglass kit.
Either DIY or will be done for you.
I'm still awaiting a response regards price and so (only PM'ed him last night) But are there others out there that have used this system?

Any comments on how it compares to Speedliner?

Speedliner is expensive to get done, but is considered possibly the best, but it is the first time I have noticed that there is also the fibreglass option.

Thanks for that, Alan.  In fact, our Protecta-kote DIY floor lining kit isn't Fibreglass, but a polyurethane based treatment, with rubber granules incorporated in it, and is priced at £60, plus £10 carriage plus VAT.

Consider the value of your van...

A) Before you apply a DIY coating
B) After you apply a DIY coating

If it looks like a DIY job when you're done it could knock £Thousands off the value of the vehicle. If the answer to "A" is not very much then why bother with a floor anyway. Fibreglass floors are slippery when wet, so beware if the van has standing room.

Hi Gray,

Craig makes the point that DIY application of Protect-kote could detract from the value of your van.  Careful application of two coats of Protecta-kote gives a very professional looking (and wearing) finish to your van floor, and will definitely enhance its value.  The rubber granules incorporated in Protecta-kote give a very good non-slip finish - unlike the slippery fibreglass finish mistakenly referred to by Craig.

The kit advertised on our website at http://www.andwat.co.uk/acatalog/ANTI_CORROSION_PAINT.html at £60 comes complete, and is sufficient for one medium sized van.  Thinner isn't included, as you might not need it, and Hammerite thinner will do.  It is available as an optional extra, as are extra 1 litre and 4 litre cans of the paint,  if you find that you need more.  In the unlikely event that the floor lining should be damaged, the damaged portion can easily be redone.

I'm having some of that a little later on in the year,when the weather picks up, No matter how carefull I am i still get a pool of water at the end of the day, and compared to the state of my van floor now (02 reg) white emulshion would look better and add value.

I am still looking for price comparisons and feedback from anyone that has either used the particular system that Peter uses or a similar fibreglass flooring system, either DIY or professionally fitted.
I've worked with fibreglass on other projects in times past, messy stuff, but I would have thought (without knowing as a fact) that stuck to a van floor it would be a very durable surface indeed.
When you add the top coat I have no doubt it is a simple matter to apply a granulated finish if you so desired.
I know that Andrew does a system for waterproofing the van floor, and speedliner is well documented.
Protecta-kote is a very affordable option to the top of the range Speedliner.

But is there no one out there who has tried & tested the fibreglass option

Ahh, progress!
So it certainly isn't cheap, though cheaper than proffesionally done speedliner (as against DIY)
But I'm still waiting to here whether anyone has used this system.
I have read several comments about  about both Speedliner and Protecta-kote from those that have those systems on their van floors.
Not yet heard of anyone with the fibreglass protection

I'll pop the post over onto another forum & see if anyone over there has used fibreglass on their van floors
