20,000 lealfets coming next week!
« on: February 13, 2009, 07:53:12 pm »

Hi Guys,

Been thinking about my advertising for this year and I've ordered 20,000 leaflets for £300. Which is good for me because I've got about 7 odd days on my round to make up. i.e. one day one week, two the next week sort of thing.

I've been thinking leafleting for my work and maybe an ad in the yellow pages as I was getting about a phone call a week from that last time and that'll do me advertising wise this year.

And there you go!

Well I'm not too sure some people tell me they can post 10,000 in a week. I've done about 1,000 this week in about 2-3 between jobs. I think its a good idea for learning all the little corners and side streets. I found 11 new shops the other day that nobody does. I've picked most of them up weekly and a waiting on an answer for another couple.

Are you saying that you sub-contracted a job out to Colley and he ended up 'poaching' it from you?

As a rule of thumb, in an compact estate, it'll take you one-hour to push 100 leaflets through their letter boxes.

You can find guys who'll deliver them for you, along with other leaflets, for around £5.00 per hundred leaflets.

The Bank in St. Helen's it took me an hour to get there and same to get back. To be honest mate I went bust on 28th may last year and am only just starting again now. Didn't really want people knowing my private details but would rather people knew that that thought I was a thief. You have an email with all my contact details if you wish to discuss this matter.

But I assure you its not a job that I am doing.

Colley,

Delete your last post; no-one need to know your private stuff!  If you did poach an account that was sub-contracted, then so what?  All's fair in love and war (in accordance with the Geneva Conventions obviously when it comes to war); business too!

Ronnie should know better than to air grevances on this forum.

But Tosh I never so I don't mind. I have nothing to hide and to be fair I think it was fair of what Ronnie said if I thought somebody was pinching my work I'd be upset.

I just hope that you guys believe me.

Colley,

Stop being a fanny; if you 'nicked' someone elses work - particularly if it's a good job - then good on you; as long as it wasn't done purely on price.

Maybe Ronnie was too ugly?  Who knows?  What I do know is that 99% of the time it's the 'person' a customer buys; not the service.

Crikey, we use a plumber who really overcharges us; but we like him, he does a good job; so we pay!

I dont rate leafleting at all. we had 120,000 done through royal mail last year at a cost of £7000 and didnt even get half of the modest figure we predicted. However i do think that many for £300 is a very good price. I think door knocking is a much better way to spend your time. but as you have them now try to find a teenager to join you for some pocket money and cover the area twicw as fast.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

tosh you obviuosly dont understand what subby means, it means trusting to do the work usually cause they need more work, trusting them to do a good job and understand its this persons work.

Maybe the person subbing out the work is to busy or maybe its a little out of the area, but it would be wrong to go on and take this work from him.

colly maybe she had it wrong, it was i job i couldnt do  all though it was worth £80 every 4 weeks, and i wouldnt of been able to do it either.

tosh why stick your noise in to something doesnt concern you and try to stoke up a fire, crawl back under tyour shell for once. :)

Ronnie,

I've been a 'subby', and what it meant to me was working hard for little money!

If you're going to sub work out then there's a risk that your 'subby' is going to poach it!  There's no law against it, I don't think it's morally wrong; it's just business.

Risk and return go hand-in-hand as they say.  You hope to get a return for doing little, but the risk is that you could lose the job.

Life sometimes isn't fair!

I like sticking my nose in too!  ;D
