72 ft Pole
« on: February 13, 2009, 06:02:57 pm »
Anyone seen the C&M magazine yet. Ionics to launch the 72ft Pole at the Cleaning Show. Looks impressive but probably big bucks.

As there is a contract advertise by Wandsworth Council for window cleaning.

How heavy is it???

Ionics poles are ok,.. but even the latest offerings are too heavy for me to look twice at above 45'. I honestly thing that there is only one pole on the market at the moment I would consider for high work and that's the SL2.

If its an Exel it will be tele, Cannot understand why its not higher than the Tucker3 man though, so its going to be very  interesting at the show - something to look forward to. :D

"its the longest water fed pole of its type ever manufactured"....mmm a bit careful with their words there. Its not as long as the biggest Tucker, which is also a telescopic is it!!!!

But it is at the moment the longest 'WFP made of Carbon Fibre in telescoping sections', so the type must be 'of composite construction with quick release clamps' all of which the Tucker does not have. It's amazing how you can phrase things.

Despite clever wording, I know I would rather work with it than the Tucker, those things bend. It sounds like it is made of similar High-Modulus carbon the same as the Facelift One that was introduced a while back. The Facelift only goes to 65ft though.

Looks like 8 clamps so thats 9 sections-like the ergo 1&2, if its 72ft pole reach then  that is 9x8ft=72ft less an overlap of  say 9"  per section =6ft"
so thats 66ft" plus 5ft body reach, hmm that dont add up but its fun to conjecture.
It may be a thinner lighter version of the E2
I am betting it willl be a well researched pole, Is That Ruben in his shirt in the Pic ?  ???

Alex when you going to do a 60ft + tele pole in carbon ? you must be thinking about it, you cracked the modular pole and your winning hands down, time for the tele pole, give us a hint  ;D

Interesting thought. We do have the technology in development right now to give us a 10 section telescopic pole. This should be ready by late April, but I still cannot see the benefit of a telescopic pole at these heights. A Super-Lite at these heights is sooooo much lighter. And has the benefit of being able to be easily used at any height below this as well. We do have clients who regularly work at 70ft, in fact in Russia the Super-Lite is sold as a 70ft package.

I do understand that there are those who will never want to work with a Modular pole and for these the new Ionics' 72ft Pole (I think that must be reach so actual will be about 68ft) will be the choice pole.

spot on alex, i couldnt imagine using anything other than modular at that height, i have 80 ft of modular pole but rarely if ever do i use it to heights over 60 feet, it could cope very well at 72 feet if i had that type of work. however to even contemplate a telescopic pole at that height is sheer madness as the weight simply cannot match the lightness of the modulars. 8)

Alex a mate of mine has tried the sl2 says its nice and light but he prefers all his ionics as he likes a bit of weight as he says its easier to control in higher winds and he gets better scrubbing with a bit of weight behind it, so i dont think you should just stick to modular at that height, a lot of people would buy it, also people take your opinions on items and i think it wouldnt be on the shelf if you didnt rate it. This is why i like to deal with yourself, Andrew McCann, gaps etc as these people know what there talking about and not just trying to make extra cash, Oh and I love the new brush  ;D

The pole that interests me is the one they are launching for residential window cleaners a 28ft carbon pole, does anyone know any more on that new pole from ionics?
The 65ft pole looks interesting if you can reach the clamps to put it up, must make it easier to work at that height range.
What do you think of the orange clamps? :o

clamps made from orange peel?....mmm....maybe not strong enough to hold the sections together.....banana skins maybe, there again too slippy......back to the drawing board.....your remit is to make a workable clamp from fruit. :D
