« on: February 10, 2009, 08:08:09 pm »
Anyone use one of these or similar to an alternative to scrims?

Anyone tried these??  http://www.windowcleancentre.co.uk/productdetails.aspx?ProductID=140&SectionID=20

Ive had some of my scrims for a year and already falling apart - including lint left on windows.. im mainly a wfp'er but i do some trad, and i anticipate i will be doing more trad in the future..

If your scrims are falling apart you should try washing them,if they fall apart there rotting due to not being washed enough if not having enough of them ie using the same 1 to much.

I just switched from hucks (blue towels) to scrim. I much prefer the scrim. I can use one all day instead of a dozen or more of the hucks.

I use scrim but prefer microfibre clothes now, no lint on these though a little more expensive.

i use both but prefer scrim

the guy who taught me wc was fastidous about his scrim, his favorite saying, and he had a lot of sayings, was look after your scrim and your scrim will look after you

ive never seen anything like it before or since

he had awashing line in his van and used to peg them out on it through the day

he had a seperate washing machine in his garage just for scrim and its own washing powder, every night he would run a load and dry them on another washing line in his garage

in the mornings it was fresh scrim neatly ironed and folded with his company name showing in the corner

every morning we had the scim ritual where with both stood with a wet scrim , holding an end each and twisting till ll the water was out and it was just damp

this went on from time to time through the day

i thought the whole thing was hilarious and still do

but they were the best scrim ive ever used and it taught me to take care of scrim but i dont go to those lengths

i do washout the draw on the washing machine so that my scrim doesnt get contaminated
