Had one for a couple of days now. Bought it as a back-up. It's ok, but not in the same class as my facelift, but hey - it's half the price! Be interesting to see the durability of the clamps & sections over time.
Just off now to change the resin on my van mount. Not looking forward to it, but shouldn't complain, it's lasted for about 7 months!

No experience of 'X-Tel's' I daresay there are comparable 31 footers to the Hydra out there for similar or less groats; just wanted to to fill a hole in the van quick!

everyone seems to think gardiners slx poles are bees knees.

I'm intrested to know their durability £300-£400, i'd want at least 2 years wear out of it.

As with all composite poles it depends entirely on how it is used and cared for. Some of our clients will easily get 2 years out of the SL-X (some will get even longer) others will not.

The price reflects the fact that it is the lightest, most compact 30ft WFP in the world not necessarily the longest lasting. For that you would need to look at Brodex's other range the Prolong aluminium range, these will last two years without thinking about it.

Here is my reply I sent to you  Lee,

Hi Lee,

The SL-X is £387 (+VAT)  including hose, plastic neck and SL brush.
It closes down to 5' 5".
The benefits of the goosenecks are as you say to reach over deep set windows. The 14" ones are very good balance between reach and usability. You can fit a Hi-Lo brush to the pole, but it would feel very heavy compared to the SL brush it comes with.

Regards

I'm not in Atlanta! Just the poles and our US importer.  :)

Now to make this thread back on topic - I believe that the Hydra pole is slightly longer than the 17ft X-tel when closed, but this is only from what others have posted about it.  ;)
