Sick of phoning customers?
« on: February 09, 2009, 07:49:37 pm »
I'm sick of phoning or texting customers the night before i'm coming to remind them to leave there gates open.
Is there anyother way round this as i'm sick of spending all my evenings phoning, but feel i have to so they unlock there padlocks etc.
Any ideas what to do guys?  :-\ :-\

I've keys to padlocks for about five of my accounts; three others leave the keys hidden under objects in their gardens and two houses I climb over the gate and unbolt (no padlock).

Speak to your customers and inform them of your difficulty.  If they're awkward; drop them; though I'm sure they won't be; none of mine were.

Oh, I also do phone five or six of my biggest domestic customers the evening before cleaning; but they're well priced and I don't mind doing it.

I always say something along the lines of, 'Hi, it's your window cleaner, weather allowing, I'll be there tomorrow'.

If you are going to drop them, then let me know. 8) ::) I don't mind earning more for a telephone call.

Yes do this.. its the best way!

Advise them it better so they dont forget to unlock, and so you can lock up the gate as you leave..

Make it better for them! show them whats in it for them.. "i can lock your gate as i leave - or i can leave it unlocked for anyone to wonder in"

I know what id prefer..

Does your pole-hose connect directly to the trolley outlet hose?

I would get a hose for the houses that have locked gates and just climb over.

I use a van mount and 100mtrs of hose. most houses I climb over, a few I have keys or combinations for.

If it is difficult to do the backs, I tell them, 'if you are in I will do the backs'. My customers seem to be happy with this.

agree, I text everyone now, used to call landlines but only texts now saves loads of time, I try to talk way out of contacting the night before apart from access issues, if they have to be contacted text only, unless a very big job I make the time to call ;)

You in the "service" industry - providing a "service". Phoning to arrange your "service" is all part of the service!
