Whilst working on Wednesday, I knocked on a blokes door for some warm water as my water was still partly frozen, and so was the applicator. He oblidged and gave me 5 litres. Nice bloke.
He then strikes up a conversation about how the weather must affect me, and says in a nice way "i bet you only make a living, and not a good wage out of this"
I said its OK, ups and downs and all that. He then asks for a quote as he wants his done. I qoute standard price for easy 3-4 bed semis, in the area im working, and he says "it that all," and sn****rs. My price really wasnt that cheap in case your thinking it was, it was realistic/good for 10 minutes work. He then tells me he worked in London in a high rise office block in the city, surveyor type work and the well known firm who do the window cleaning on the building do it 5 days a week. 2 guys in cradles all week every week, and the two blokes fall out whilst doing the job cause one lets the other know he's earning £4k more than the other. The highest paid got about 18K. The owners of the building hear about this and complain to the cleaning firm, not about the row but about the level of pay, in relation to what they are paying the main contractor.
Why would someone do cradle work at crazy heights for this renumeration.
It obviously isnt all about the money is it. Consider yourselves lucky methinks.
