What a Muppet
« on: March 19, 2005, 02:56:52 pm »
Coming home from work I was in a queue of trafic and glanced to one side and couldn't believe what I saw :o
This berk was 3/4 of the way up a double extension ladder using a pressure washer.
He was balancing on 2 rungs, no hands, was operating the lance sideways on, to clean off a tiled roof.
I presume he must have been the householder, no sane proffesional would work in that way........would they?

Sad innit :-\
Small wonder that Health and safety regs are being tightened :'(

Mind you, some of the risks I have taken in the past make me wince with embarrassment when I recall them :-[

Ian,
Did you give any thought to your own safety before getting stuck into that glass of lager ;)

Today on the way home I saw something I could not believe.

About 20 yards from a very busy junction right next to a bus stop was someone up a ladder painting a canopy front which is over a small parade of shops.

The bottom of the ladder was actually in the road about a foot out from the kerb with him about 15' up painting away. His idea of 'safety' was 2 small cones either side of the feet.

My mate phoned 999 but they'd already had about half a dozen calls about it.

That bloke must be so thick and stupid that it defies description.

And Ian, I hope that mug is not a pint glass.  ;D

Fermented alcoholic products have been with us for around 12,000 years.  So they can't be that bad for you!  See here:

And Ian, I hope that mug is not a pint glass. ;D

That mug looks very familiar.  I think it's a German Stein and holds nearly four pints of pills (the German equivallent to lager).

I've drunk a few in Gemany (lived there for several years on and off) and ended up with a bigger right bicep than my left.  The only problem with them was, you didn't want to put it down to go to the toilet because they're not cheap, and some other drunken squaddie would nick it when you're not looking!

In a "not window cleaning" bit of muppetry last summer I was using a petrol mower which you could only switch off by pulling off the sparking plug lead. (Ouch!) So to avoid this unpleasant sensation I had a bit of bamboo with which I would deftly flick off the lead when emptying the grassbox.

Anyway, yours truly loses stick and empties grassbox with motor running and no probs all afternoon until tube where grass fires out is blocked.

Idiot me proceeds to put hand up tube and lose nail and very tip of middle finger in a mind-numbing slice/thwack of mower blade.

Missus G cossets me like a baby when I nearly faint and get rushed off to NHS direct where a nurse gives me a dressing, a finger bandage and instructions not to do "such a numpty thing again!" ::)

My muppet story happened about two years ago.
A guy was cleaning the windows on a block of flats on the Kenton road near Harrow. And it was raining
The flats were ground floor, first floor, second floor and the third floor were attic flats with little dormer window set half way up in the roof.

With a very long and unsecured aluminium ladder he was climbing up to roof level and then walking up the wet roof tiles to clean the attic windows. When finished he was walking down backwards trying to hook the ladder with his foot.

I am not exagerating when I say it made me feel ill just watching him.

I posted above about some idiot with his ladder in the gutter whillst painting.

Last Friday, I had a phone call from the local Police asking me questions about what time, where was the ladder exactly, etc and yesterday, (Tuesday) a copper came round and took a statement from me.

It seems they are intending to 'do him' over it. The officer who took my statement did not want to tell me any details other than the idiot will be charged and would I be prepared to be a witness and when am I going on holiday?

'scuse me for asking Ross, but how do you think the Police knew 1) about it and 2) that you saw it? ???

More non w/c muppetry from yours truly.

We had an irritating interlocking kitchen floor tile that kept working loose so yesterday after trying several methods I whacked superglue around the edges.

Only wearing socks and unbeknown to me I'd superglued my sock to my big toe! Went to bed and realised that sock was stuck to my foot!

This morning I cut off sock and bathed said area in Acetone (Nail polish remover). Ow!

No sympathy from Mrs G. this time (see lawnmower muppetry in earlier post) who is still laughing!

Muppetry at it's finest.

LOL Ross - That was only wearing socks as in not wearing shoes! You will all be pleased to know that yours truly was wearing light indoor clothing!
