I think we should pool our ideas and come up with a check list of what window cleaners need to take in addition to the tools.

Myself; first aid kit; head phones; wasp spray; extra work shoes; a pair of long jeans in case I wear shorts and need to do outside work, a small cooler with water/soda; extra shirt.

Of course  all of my office stuff that I need ; I take a breifcase. And for me; a bit of makeup and perfume.

I'm sure I have forgotten something;  what about you all?

What do you take with you every day?

I carry first aid, mobile phone, waterproofs, flask ect, mini fridge summer, ladder stopper, warning signs, a box with at least 2 spares of all fittings to replace any part of wfp system, and tools to replace them. Also some thinners for dissolving mastic. Gloves and slip on shoe covers for inside work. Receipt book, couple of pens, envelopes, and palm for George. And the special ingredient to make the window immaculate, ( 20yrs of experience )

When people say what do you put in your water, I say something money cant buy 20 yrs of experience

I also carry a fire extinguisher for some of the chemicals I carry. 4 spare t-shirts. Drinking water, anything from 1 litre to 5. And much the same as the aforementioned.
I also carry work tools, sometimes a basic kit, other times specialised equipment.

mobile office in a briefcase...pole. water and some munchies and milk.....a few hand tools......and radio 2....

local a-z cos I am always being asked directions, cos window cleaners know every street don't we !!

Hi all,

At the risk of sounding like a old fart ,i wouldn't want any of my employess using a walkman or mp3 etc whilst working i'm sure there are health & safety implications i would want them fully aware of surroundings, ladders etc. Don't want to rain on anyones parade but in these days of litigation you can't be too careful and how would they be able to hear my frank sinatra impression with ear plugs in.

Don't worry Mark....I have the radio on so softly I can still have a normal conversation with someone a few feet away (though I'd take them off of course out of courtesy)...there's rarely any ladders about and I'm totally focused. I don't even smoke on the job..too busy to even think about it....and I use warning signs if I've got hose all over a public footpath or access. Pretty safe I reckon......

Most of above plus saftey glasses as well as sun glasses, -High visibility jacket and Warning triangle's (feel safer when using pole on main road) cones to mark hose run across pavement.Three hats for Very Cold, Not to cold, Nearly warm.Gripper gloves (easier to hold pole and keeps hands from getting cut and dirty when reeling in hose)

Hey Gents;

I have to admit that I used to wear headphones all the time when I was working by myself.

 I had the volume reasonable, but I pretended that I couldn't hear when dudes thought they were real cool and made comments.

I just ignored them and pretended" Pardon" "What?".

When I worked with my ex husband; if guys drove by and did the "wolf" call, whistle, whatever; he would get very angry at ME, and would not talk to me for the rest of the day.

I wore long shorts and t shirts only; or jeans. He was very jealous. I had to be careful about talking to my male customers very long. 

What a loser!

Glad I left that behind!
